Hey everyone, super excited to start using the video robot! I just got the Hoodie today and am intending to use it to attach the Rode Videomic pro. However a reducer bushing adapter is required but I do not know which one to purchase. Could someone please help by providing a link to the exact item that I should buy? Cheers!
I don’t have that mic, but from the pictures it looks like all you need is a cold shoe mount. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074V9MNBK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_mMVtBb0HHXN61 If you need something to make the plug work with a smart phone... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L6C8PN0?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
I had a cold shoe left over from my Osmo and it works great mounted to the top of the hoodie. It included a screw that worked great to attach it as well. Similar to this one (mine doesn't rotate): https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...zm_000310_universal_mount_rotatable_cold.html
You can either use a cold shoe adapter, as mentioned above, or a 3/8 16 to 1/4 20 reducer. Install the reducer into the mic and then attach to the Hoodie.
I use the following items to combine the Movi, Hoodie and iPhone X with the Rode Videomic Pro+ (for my run & gun setup): Neewer Cold Shoe Adapter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M1MF7PI/ Rode SC7 TRS to TRRS Patch Cable: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L6C8T22 Apple Lightning Adapter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LXJFMGF In other voice audio scenarios I switch the Rode Videomic Pro + Rode SC7 combo with a Sennheiser AVX MKE2 + Rode SC4 combo.
As I understand it, these mikes come with a cold shoe adapter that incorporates a 3/8”-16 screw hole. As Giovanni says, one way to address this is to use a 3/8”-16 to 1/4”-20 reducing bushing. If I understand, your solution is to replace the whole cold shoe adapter with one that incorporates a 1/4”-20 screw hole instead. Not sure I would have thought of that. Good idea; reducing bushings have a way of walking off, never to be seen again
