I think that the "thing on the left" is the cable guide/clip if you need to use one. Watch Freefly's video on the Hoodie at the 00:42 mark:
Hmm, don't think so cause everything above the square belongs to the RODE micro, everything in to MOVI. And when holding it in my hand I have no idea where/how to fix it somewhere on/at the mount
what do you mean you dont think so?? You screw that into the arm of the move to guide the wires. its in the video at 0:48
