To get better position hold i used the holiday to do this carbon boom upgrade with 9.5° dihedral tubes.
Although i think 5° would be enough. I could not find them anywhere. Other then tubes similar to the Alta design.
Initial indoors tests shows very stable flight. With about 1-2% loss in lift.
In the next weeks i will do more testing in windy conditions.

    Many thanks, Thijm!
I see the link to the Polish supplier in your original post above. However, I went there and their site is only half built - and it shows zero stock anywhere. Left them a message though, so I'm hoping to get some kind of a response.
I see the arms are made out of 25mm stock. Is it 1mm thick rod stock? i.e. the internal diameter would be 23mm?
Happy 2017 and let's see some shots!
    All the best
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
The supplier told me this is his new site! The one i ordered from is the one Mark posted (http://www.carbon-cnc.eu/en/41-bent-tubes-for-multirotors) They are the same company.

Well, I have invested too much money for Cinestar 8 frames (I have 7 of them), so I'm not throwing it to the garbage.

Here are the photos of the recent upgrades I did to the system. The drone is equipped with KDE 4014 motors, capable of carrying 14lbs payload for 10 minutes with 10Ax2 batteries.

The arms are removable for transport. Ready to fly in 3 minutes.

The swan arms are from carbon-cnc.eu

    Thijm, hello!
Any longer-term observations on the swan necks?
    Good decision to have made?

Sorry, Thijm, I meant bent tubes, not swan arms.

On set today with 18 knots wind speed. Surprisingly rock solid. Almost no movement in Gps. Not flyable in gps with old setup. 5% loss in lift.
Dragon and Cooke mini s4. Weight 15.2kg.

    Awesome.
Thanks for the report, thinking of changing one of my X8's back to H8 with the swan arms. Carbon-cnc has already done work for me, Darek is an excellent fellow - will post when I've finished the build, it's more of an X8 with mantis arms.

Thijm, did you use the regular tubes? Or the reinforced ones? I took some measurements off my Cinestar and concluded that Freefly used 1mm thick CF stock, which Darek offers as well as the 2mm thick reinforced tubes.

1mm for flat config is fine. min 1.5mm for coax.
9.5° dihedral are 1.3mm, don't know how they hold with coax config

Yeah, I'm going to go flat with the swan-arms. However, Darek just emailed me and said he's only got the reinforced ones left... : )

Hmmm. Not sure what to advice. maybe others can chime in.
I like them to be a little flexible. So they damp minor unbalance in prop/motor. Impossible to balance props 100% without pro tools.
