No, it can't be separated. The feet can be removed, and the top handle can come off. Probably takes 5 minutes or so with some small bolts to put them back on. If you're traveling, the Ring is nice because you don't need a C-Stand or something to set the Movi down and dock it, but you can more easily pack the Classic top handle, which fits in a much smaller case.
Thanks for the info Graham. Could you please tell me what the dimensions are for the Movi Ring Pro? I could not find that info.
Hi Jonathan, the size kind of depends on if you leave the accessories on it or not. There are two feet, a Top Handle, and two hand-grip-stopper things on the sides. To put all these things on took me like 10 minutes with a tool, because it's a bunch of little bolts and nuts. Real pain in the butt to do every time you want to take the thing out of a case, if you ask me. With nothing on it, the ring is approximately 21 1/2" wide (550mm) x 22 3/4" (580mm) tall x 1 1/4" (30mm) deep\thick. The side gripper things make it wider - 23" (585mm) -- and add a notch to the inside. The Feet and the Top Handle kind of add some width in both directions (forward and back). Probably 8" overall (20mm), and the Top Handle adds some height: an extra 3 1/2" (85mm). Does that help?
Damn...lol Maybe Freefly will come out with the traveling version where it's possible to disassemble the ring itself.
Many MoVI users have used a cymbal softcase for the MoVI Pro Ring. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/cymbal-cases-gig-bags-covers
