To anybody who is interested I recently added a laser altimeter to my old radian gimbal for my work. We take Balcony shots of high rise buildings so we need something super accurate. I finally made it happen it reads to the cm!! parts used : fc: pixhawk fc laser: sf11/c http://www.lightware.co.za/shop/en/drone-altimeters/51-sf11c-120-m.html osd: Alceosd 0v3 http://www.satxo.com/shop/index.php?id_product=8&controller=product Its pretty well documented on how to set-up it does require some programming through the open source mission planner and cutting and soldering of wires. documents are here: http://ardupilot.org/copter/docs/common-lightware-sf10-lidar.html thanks
Bonus points for that, Jason. Have you been able to cross-correlate its accuracy? Andy yes I did! First test was tape measure gaffed taped to the wall holding it up at different heights then trying to read the fpv screen. (help is required lol). very accurate! I have used it on jobs vs a crane also its perfect just have to fly slow enough so my camera ops can take the photos at the correct height.
Nice! It states that it's good for 120 meters.....just wondered if you happened to accidentally drift above that and notice whether it actually works (nudge, nudge, know what I mean, eh?) I dont normally fly more than 100m have not had any jobs to fly that high and test it out. I need some big space to fly that high!
Holger now made it work with MK; https://www.mikrocontroller.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=110&products_id=964 Regards
On the MK site it says the data is recorded to the GPS file. If using HOTT telemetry I wonder if altitude numbers are broadcasted back to the radio via voice prompts.
Just a bit of an update I have now attached a shutter cable directly to the laser and can set of the shutter at exactly required height. If anybody takes Construction/Development Photography knows this is very important. So if you do this kind of work let me know i want the company to add more "trigger points" thanks
