Hello Freefly Forums, I am having trouble getting my M5 to update to Akira 5.0. I am using the Mac software (1.80) to run the update. I followed the procedure as described in the update manuals and I am connecting over Bluetooth. During the actual update the status bar does not move beyond 0.0% and in about 10 seconds the update fails. I've restarted both the computer and the Movi several times. I've also tried the update in the current version of the mac software (1.630) to see if that would help, but it didn't take. I don't have a PC otherwise I would try the update with that. Also, my Movi connects perfectly with the mac for programming and graphing. I haven't witnessed any bluetooth dropout during normal app functions. I apologize in advance if I'm missing some small detail in the update process. This is my first attempt at an M5 update ever. Any thoughts?
Try making sure that there are no other BT devices turned on close by that might be causing interference. Does your MoVI still run?
Thanks Gary, I just attempted the install again this morning with all other bluetooth devices turned off. Still the same problem. I noticed that as soon as the install starts the bluetooth connection drops out (according to the indicator in my top bar). The MoVI does still run after a reboot. Any other ideas for me to try? Is there a battery minimum requirement for the update? I've been attempting the update on a half charged pack.
I forced the update with the jumper cable and it took. Not sure why the update wasn't taking naturally, but the jumper cable seems to be the solution.
Good to hear you got it. That would have been my next suggestion. Sounds like it somehow got 'bricked'.
Hi, I have the same issue "During the actual update the status bar does not move beyond 0.0% and in about 10 seconds the update fails. I've restarted both the computer and the Movi several times." I've tried with the jumper cable but the same, no response, have anyone experienced the same? what can I do?
Hi Dave, the update can be a frustrating process if you've never done it before. What do you use to connect with your Movi? Android Tablet? How far into the update do you get?
If he's getting the same error that I was getting he's doing the update correctly it's just a faulty Movi.
This error. Failed to update firmware! If device supports WIFI and bluetooth please reboot device and update usi
I am very used to updating firmware and have followed the instructions. it just won't upload the new FW. I am on Mac OS 10.11.6. no other bluetooth devices. I don't have a jumper so I guess I am screwed. Apparently there is a secret way to do it but it is not in the public domain.. we thats according to Yuri Tereshyn. Could someone from Freely jump in here as its very frustrating. I am in the UK so there is no easy way of me getting it back to FF for a repair/upgrade if it is required. Hopefully the 'Secret' solution will work. Help please
Hi Dave, you will get much faster response if you'll send this in an email to support@freeflysystems.com. They have an awesome tech staff. Please keep us posted on what you figure out, but someone else posted they had better luck updating over an Android tablet than a Mac. Good luck.
