Finding it really difficult to get data on the new Alta 8.
I like many purchased the Alta only a few months ago so its a hard to get my head around having to purchase again.

Where is the real world data on the difference between the Alta 8 vs 6.
Flying 2 x 10mAh batteries with 15lbs payload I get around 8 minutes flying time.
I would like to know what flight time I would get on the Alta 8 with the same 2 x 10mah with 15lbs payload.

This may be of use to you. I find it's relatively accurate based upon my testing of the Alta 8.

I wondered where that data came from, Chris -- thanks to doing that.

So at 17 lbs (7.7 kg), with 2 x 16 Ah, approx flight time is 15 minutes.
And for max payload (20 lbs, 9.07 kg), 2 x 10 Ah would give an approx flight time of 8 minutes.

    Thanks
    Andy.

    Jeez, Chris....you're flying LiPo's with rotors strapped on them! 4 x 16Ah. Wow. :)

Thanks. I've had a look at the chart but am still unclear what flight time 2 x 10Ah with 15lbs payload would give on a Alta 8.

I'm trying to avoid getting a whole new set of batteries (16Ah) and to me its unclear if the Alta 8 is worth the money having just purchased the Alta.

Chris would Quadrocopter do a test with 2 x 10Ah with 15lbs Payload on both the ALTA 8 and ALTA6 and publish the different.
I'm finding it hard to justify the $16,000 price tag of the ALTA8

About 10 minutes, based on Chris' chart.

So would it be correct to say I would get the same flight time on both the ALTA6 and ALTA8 flying the same batteries and payload on both.

So the only different in the ALTA8 is that it can take larger batteries to fly the same payload for longer or a heavy payload.

Could I fly 3 x 10Ah batteries on the ALTA8 for longer flight times with a 15lbs payload? I've only ever flown in pairs.
    10Ah batteries are 1375g and 16Ah are 1931g so 556g different.

I would really like to avoid having to purchase 16 new 16Ah batteries if I can use my existing 10Ah batteries from my Alta6

    Hi Rory,
Are you in Fernie? If so you should hop on down and I'll give you a demo of the ALTA 8. It fly's like a dream and lifts our RED/M15 without a sweat. Just hums in a hover. The extra 2 motors add quite a bit to stability and flying characteristics.

    Best,
    Jeff
