Given you have MK avionics, the best OSD is likely to be this one: http://www.smart-electronics.eu/index.php/en/smart-osd
It's specifically designed to connect into the data bus between the various MK boards.

For FPV, check out the forum at fpvlab.com .

A good camera to use is: http://www.readymaderc.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=11_62_12&products_id=1405

As for transmitters, you have a choice of whether you'd like to operate the FPV on 1.3 Ghz, and the video feed from the gimbal camera on 5.8 Ghz.

1.3 Ghz transmitters tend to give you more range but, if you choose to use the superior quality skew planar antennae, they are much larger.
Here's a sample of some 1.3 Ghz Transmitters and Receivers: http://www.rangevideo.com/22-13-ghz

For 5.8 Ghz, check out the cheap'n'cheerful: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=03FBCD1FXP07YE9MVNRA

As you'll see, there's a lot of choices to be made!

Are you reffering to the board for the gimbal with this "Given you have MK avionics, the best OSD is likely to be this one: http://www.smart-electronics.eu/index.php/en/smart-osd
It's specifically designed to connect into the data bus between the various MK boards."
If that is so it already has MK in it and came spare with tranut*i forget the exact name*..

I'm basicly in needs on transmitors, recievers, and camera control thats it.

You will need two separate video downlinks:
    1. FPV for the pilot.
    2. Payload camera for the gimbal/camera operator.

The Smart Electronics OSD is for the FPV system.
For the payload camera, you'll probably end up needing an HDMI to Composite video converter (check http://kopterworx.com/hdmi-to-av-converter-mini.html ), and then a Video Transmitter ("Tx") and a Video Receiver ("Rx").

You also, as you say, will need some means for controlling the camera. Most folks (as far as I am aware) only attempt to control the shutter and/or record on/off for video. They simply focus the camera lens at the hyperfocal distance (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperfocal_distance) or at infinity.

Resist the urge to stop the lens down beyond f11 -- diffraction effects kick in and the image start to move towards soft-focus.

Some folks (like Steve Maller and me), for video, just start the camera rolling on the ground and let it run the entire flight, and redact the unwanted video in post production.

For stills, I've seen some folks use an intervalometer (either external or built-in to the camera, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intervalometer) -- but that's a bit of a crap-shoot for me (and when I tried it I got crap shots too). :(

    Hope this helps.

I play on running 2 display tablets for download links one for FPV and one for payload camera(head sets ie fat sharks made me sick haha)

for the camera it has 2 video outputs. would i still have to convert hdmi do you think?

    1-NTSC,PAL
    2-HDMI type c mini pin.

For my lenses i plan on running a 35mm f1.8g lense in hopes of some sharper images them my P3 was allowing me to capture. If this is not suitable for what i'm doing i will have to dig deeper into what lense people are using and such.

We mainly want the start stop video and shutter control. I've don't some reading on focusing but that is with cameras you can't change lenses with.

Hoping to achieve a almost similar dji lightbridge set up with a better camera.

Tablets or monitors? I know DJI uses tablets, but I don't believe there's anyone whose got what you need for tablets and the Cinestar -- typically we use monitors like Haier or Small HD.

If the camera already has composite video output (1 above), then you will not need to convert it.
The video Tx only transmit standard definition. You'll need to go up-market to get to HD downlinks. Probably the best would be the DJI Lightbridge, but I'm not sure I know anyone who's running that with Freefly products.

The usual rule for video is to try and keep the shutter speed around 1/60th second either by adjusting the ISO or, if need be, adding an ND filter for bright sunlight.

Not strictly true, but it focusing for airborne work is not usually necessary except in the most demanding kind of shots were the camera-to-subject distance is going to range from three meters to 300 meters, say.

Then you may need to actually get a Lightbridge, I suspect.

Andy, You are filled with knowledge. it's un real.. and i'm thankful for your time!

i'm looking at some analog transmitters for the ntsc, pal hook ups so I can eliminate the hdmi.

I was considering the black pearl for a screen/monitor.(your thoughts?)

    Here is what i'm considering.

    Monitors:

    http://www.canadadrones.com/FPV-700DW-7-inch-wireless-monitor-DVR-and-5-8GHz-p/fpv-700dw-monitor.htm

    http://www.canadadrones.com/2014-FPV-702-Monitor-Double-32CH-Diversity-RX-p/dd-p2-fpv-bp.htm

    Transmitters:

Nah. My brain's full. I just do a lot of Google searches.

This one looks good, but only has 5.8 Ghz.
    http://www.canadadrones.com/2014-FPV-702-Monitor-Double-32CH-Diversity-RX-p/dd-p2-fpv-bp.htm

As to the two transmitters, the first one is 2,000 milliWatts (that's 2 Watts!!) While that might seem like an advantage, it's going to suck a fair amount of power. The second one is 200 milliWatts, which is probably a little on the light side. Suggest, meh, 600 mW would be a good place to start.

I've just started testing these: http://www.amazon.com/Eachine-Wirel...TF8&qid=1446584303&sr=1-7&keywords=boscam+832 (you can also get the transmitter by itself: http://www.amazon.com/Eachine-TS832...8&qid=1446584349&sr=1-2&keywords=boscam+ts832

You might want to look at something like these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=15V8V32CK75YEYP4TB8Z

The "Right Hand Circularly Polarized" just makes for better rejection of signals that aren't right hand circularly polarized! :)

It tried to get to amazon.ca but Amazon's not letting me do that.

What I want to try is two of the Boscam systems both on 5.8Ghz, but on widely separated frequencies. "It should work" (as we say in the software business).

Hey andy, I was doing research and figured before I worry about cameras and gimbals. I need some flight hours. I was messing around with the MK software today. Is v 2.02 most recent? it is actually very user friendly!

The best way to answer that question (and sorry, I don't remember the current version), is to connect up the MK Tool program to the Flight Controller with the MK USB adapter, and, once you have the connection established, click on Firmware Update & Terminal, and there's a small magnifying glass icon (see this web page). From there you get to a Window that shows you current versions of all the various chunks of MK "software" (strictly speaking it's firmware, but...)

    This is described here: http://wiki.mikrokopter.de/en/SoftwareDownload

MK Tool can then actually do the downloads for you so that you then do the updates (using MK Tool as well).

Connecting up MK Tool and doing the updates is described here: http://wiki.mikrokopter.de/en/Softw...-SoftwareUpdate.Where_to_get_the_Hex-Files.3F

    Hope that helps.

Sven: Are you say it doesn't *start* ticking? In which case, the odds are you are not making it into the compass calibration routine.
If you power on the aircraft (and let the beeps stop), if you don't have the Tx powered on do you hear any beeping? That would indicate that the beeper/buzzer is not working and that's why you're not hearing the ticking.

The other possibility is that the Rx is not recognizing the stick gesture to get you into compass calibration.

Also compare what you're doing to this:

hey Sven the recent is v2.12 make sure you update both the fc and navi boards as there was some weird things happening around the v2.02 to v2.08 mark.
Also once you Update of the NaviCtrl delete the SETTINGS.INI on the SD-Card.
This .ini contains some needed values. The new Software will set a new file with the needed values automatically after a restart.

yes you have to have it hooked navi board to the gps using the cable otherwise it wont update they are package deal and work together but are separate.

the bl are also a really hard to update good luck!!, what bl do u have??
i found the best was solution 2 found here. Start the update without the connection the once it starts connect it and pray to the microkopter gods it works!! haha

I have a jump cable going from the main board to the gps on the arm. then a wireless connector on there..

I can just disconenct the wireless and hook up my wired connect and update nav and flight cntrl?
