I am just wondering if anybody has tried different stand-off lengths for the Vibration dampening? I am doing this because i see props in my shots when doing 360 with my gimbal. Anybody tried this? good bad ugly? I know that it has more suspension length i am wondering if this will have any problems flying?
I do something similar to that, but lower the entire vibration isolator down ... Works a treat for me.
i would like to do something similar, my escs are just above my vibration isolators and the heat is making them soft. anyone got a good link to buy different length standoffs? cheers.
Chris please post some pics. I would like to see how its set-up. Daniel do a search for axial posts on the forum. this one i found. Most are from rc cars http://www.axialracing.com/products?utf8=✓&keywords=axial+post I just used my old av200 servo gimbal parts. that gimbal has come in handy for spares!
Hey Guys, Sorry for the slow response, here are a couple of shots of the underside of some of the airframes I'm using. I build plates for the ESCs which sit under the main bode, and then lower the vibration isolators below this. I use Freefly components for the vibration isolators down, everything else I custom build now. I invested in a CNC router and now produce my own frames. There is also an X8 there using gryphon booms ...
Hey Jason, Yep the entire copter is custom made, the stand offs are about 35mm ... that allows enough room for me to get my fat fingers in there to do everything up. Cheers Chris
Just Wanted to share something I am trying out, I gave a test run in the office seemed to worked ok. will report back once i fly it. right now its ready for a crane job coming up
It will be interesting to see if the increased length shifts the center of gravity far enough to cause some "pendulum" or resonance effects -- or whether it improves things. Andy
Jason, I wouldn't stretch the standoffs just from the center. It will perform much better if you increase the lenght from the sides. I have increased the standoffs 5cms and it performs no different.
Okazan just looks like you added super long standoffs from the vibration dampening like in my first photo is that correct? Also looks like the same star plate i bought from aliexpress?
Jason: If I understand what you're looking for, Google search for "axial posts" -- e.g. http://www.axialracing.com/products?utf8=✓&keywords=axial+posts Andy.
Andy I know what they are called cheers. But I just wonder where people buy " There axial posts from". I just wonder how much weight you can dangle from them before they snap? And I am sure they are many different companys that make them. Just putting my 2 cents out there
Hi Jason: Apologies....your use of the words standoff made me think you didn't know -- and as we both know if you don't know what something's called, you can't find it on the Internet! I think the machine screws are more likely to bend before the axial posts do. Andy.
