I am building a new copter for a client and I ran into something that I never really understood why. I have never been able to get SUMO 12 to work with the MK flight control board. I can get SUMO8 to work but not SUMO12. Yes I am switching the servo cable to servo 12 connection on the receiver when I try SUMO12. The only thing I could ever get to work is SUMO8 with the servo connector hooked into servo 8 output on the receiver. Any idea?
Sumo numbers are related to the receiver output channel and depends on the used receiver. Witch one are you using?
Humm..... Recently I've installed a GR24 on a MK FC 2.1 with a MZ24. I do understand completely different the use of the SUMO config. The SUMO sums X channels in PWM to a PPM signal on the CH8 connector on the GR24. If you put SUMO 8, the CH8 connector will output the first 8 channels in PPM, if you config as SUMO 12 the CH8 connector will output all 12 channels of the MZ24 in PPM format. For this to work you have to set it on the telemetry section of the radio then power off the RX and the FC, once you power it on again you can see the change in MKTools . Cheers,
Only so that you can use more channels if you need them for instances where a copter is setup for a one man pilot-camera man combo. I only use channels 1-6 myself. The customer asked for more channels which is why I was asking.
Ooops. I was wrong. MX-20 manual at page 218: On receivers whose display shows "SUMO" at thetop right, an additional two-digit number appears… the active field changes after confirmation of"SUMO" by briefly pressing the central SET keyof the right touch pad for the channel selection.With this selection you specify the highest of thetransmitter channels contained in the SUMO signal: The PPM always goes out on servo 8's connector. I've deleted my previous posting as it was flat wrong. Sigh. Andy.
PS. TRIPLE CHECK THE FAIL SAFE SETTINGS. There was a defective old firmware that didn't send the lost radio to the MK. I don't remember if it was a TX or RX firmware. To test is very easy, just connect the Mk Tools, start monitoring in the OSD screen and turn off the TX. It should go into fail safe otherwise update the firmware.
