I've just had a movi M10 software update fail and need a jumper cable, I'm not from Rome and don't have one. Anyone got a cable they can loan me, happy to pay, happy to come to you. bqfogarty@mac.com
Hi Ben: I gather you've worked with FF Tech Support but have not been able to rig up a connection that shorts pins 1 and 5 together. Did you manage to get a hold of a bootstrap jumper from someone? Or are you still stuck? Andy.
Hi Andy, I haven't managed to get hold of the cable yet, or get the wire to pins 1 and 5 short circuit to work, I do however have a contact who's put me on to a guy in rome who's got a few movi's, so I'll try hire off him if I can't get the cable, I'm hoping he has one, just waiting to hear back from him.
Hmmm. Frustrating. Not quite sure what we on the forum can do, given you've already tried the "shorting pins 1 and 5." Did you already get the documentation that normally comes with the shorting plug from FF? Andy.
By documentation, I mean Jumper Cable Installation Instructions? EDIT: Email me at ajohnsonlaird AT me DOT com so I can send them to you if you don't have them -- just a chance they'll help you with the "shorting" procedure... Andy
Yes, freefly have sent me all the info, it just won't work, hopefully the guy in Rome can help me out...Have you done the wire short circuit yourself? Any tips would help, I even sent a picture of what I was doing to FF, so don't think I'm miles off, but any help would be great.
Yeah, I've done it many, many times when I was doing initial testing of 4.01. The trick (as far as I was concerned) was to be sure to have the pins shorted before I powered up the MōVI so that it immediately goes into "boot loader" mode -- then establish contact with the MōVI via the Configurator app and update the firmware. Once done, power off the MōVI, remove the shorting connector and power the MōVI up again. All the settings are set back to zero...so, if you made a backup of the settings before you tried the original failed upgrade, you can reload from that. Andy
The small (maybe large) difference I see in your instructions and there's are they said to remove the cable after 5 seconds, does that sound correct to you? or should it stay in contact till the movi has updated?
Hmmm. I'm pretty sure I leave the shorting cable on until the update is completed. Certainly worth a try. Andy
Ben: I'm going off-line now (I'm on Pacific Time). I'll be sure to check this thread first thing tomorrow. Andy
No, still haven't had any luck... Even with the wire left in, same thing, update failed... The guy I have in Rome to contact isn't answering.... So not looking good at this stage..
When the Configurator app first starts up and you try to connect to the MōVI do you get any kind of warning about the jumper being connected? Andy.
http://forum.freeflysystems.com/ind...irmware-problem-device-bootstrap-jumper.6189/ Im getting the same as this guy....all warning are identical
Running on a Mac, I've tired 3 different laptops, reinstalled software... Have it a go on PC but found it didn't work either
Another of my "cunning plans" bites the dust. The fact that you're getting the same warnings as that other thread suggests that the MōVI gimbal controller is indeed in bootstrap mode. The fact that you've tried three computers suggests that it's not the Configurator app nor the Bluetooth connection -- although, do you have a lot of other Bluetooth devices active in proximity to the MōVI -- or are you close to any sources of radio frequency interference -- e.g. right next to a WiFi node? Just grasping at straws here. Andy.
This is just a shot in the dark, but can you download the 3.08 firmware and try "updating" (actually regressing)...just try and see if you can fall back to 3.08. Andy
