Earlier this week we had a chance to fly the Cinestar indoor. We are proud of this edit and had to share: Cheers,
Of course... Cinestar 8 with 3 axis gimbal. Lumix GH3 and edited in Premiere... GPS unplugged. All shots were choreographed prior to flying to minimize the flight time inside.
Sam, I'll jump in here and answer, although I'm not sure what Richard was flying. Operating a sUAS indoors is quite straightforward, providing you know how to configure and operate your machine completely independent of its GPS system. It's nothing short of irresponsible to depend on GPS in general, but indoors it's madness. So that's why we should all practice flying in non-GPS stabilized mode. With DJI gear that's "ATTI" mode. With Mikrokopter, it's manual mode. I actually have an opportunity this week to do something just like this, and to do so, I'll take the following precautions with my Mikrokopter-based heavy lifter: configure the copter to ignore compass errors and be able to operate with any number of satellites disable the GPS position hold switch so it doesn't get accidentally turned on disable return to home functionality entirely put the MōVI in boat mode and boot it up outdoors Steve
I'll be doing the same tomorrow inside a cathedral. Obviously I'll be in Atti mode but I've only flow indoors once not in a small space so Atti isn't my strongest point but still not too bad. It's a fairly simple shot.
Hi Sam, Steve nailed it. It's been over a year since we did this but don't remember the specs. But I do remember having to disable the GPS. Just be very careful and don't let your eyes off of it. The C8 and drift and there's little recovery area if something goes wrong. Cheers,
Flew through a connvention center today through areas of really intense lighting, video and sound. Did extensive radio testing before ever lifting off the floor. The copter and MōVI performed like a dream. Blew away the production crew. And yes, I did fly through that tunnel into the other side of the hall.
