Hello to the mövi experts, Do Mövis also work with futaba recevers? If yes, is there a certain type of or model i shoud consider? thanks
The Movi does work with Futaba rx. There is an Sbus port on the Movi so any receiver that supports Sbus will work.
Also had major range issues with the stock Spektrum tx rx, we are moving to Futaba 8J, one question though, how do you set the channel 4 (Roll/ Rudder) so the stick doesn't give input but the trim does,
I would use the channel mapping function of the Movi to move roll function to a different channel. If the 8J is anything like the 8 or 14fg you could also change the channel mapping with the radio.
"how do you set the channel 4 (Roll/ Rudder) so the stick doesn't give input but the trim does," In the Futaba crank down the rudder dual rates down to 0. This will eliminate any rudder stick input, but will still let you trim. Cheers, Jeff
A question for Mark. I have a movi M5 and I have been struggling with range. I can't get more than 50 metres before having problems. I am using the stock spektrum you mentioned. Is there no way to sort it without changing to a futaba?
Consider getting additional Satellite Receivers and the Spektrum diversity board which will allow you to place the additional receivers on other parts of the unit. Paul you don't mention if you are flying the MoVI or on the ground but the issue is usually that the one RX gets blanked by the person carrying the MoVI and/or the carbon fibre.
Paul: Are you in Europe, by chance? If so, European regulations require transmitters to operate at reduced power. Also can you post an image of how you have the Spektrum receiver mounted on the M5? Thanks Andy
Sorry Paul only seeing this now, in my opinion I would say change to Futaba, if your using the movi in the air... the movi really should be shipping with a better receiver for aerial applications, the spectrum satellite not really up to the job, We switched to Futaba & all our glitching problems went away. You could try another spectrum receiver like the AR1000, i personally don't like the spectrum stuff, we fly exclusively with Hi-Tec & all our gimbals fly on Futaba.
Thanks for the replies. I am flying my M5 and the problem is sometimes when the receiver is the furthest away from me but then beyond 100m it doesn't matter which way its facing it just doesn't respond to the controls. I need the ability to fly up to 300m away and still have control, am I asking too much from this Spektrum? Will a Futaba work fine at 300m?
Paul: Can you check which Region you have the Transmitter set for -- see page 10 of the Spektrum DX7s manual (assuming that is what you have -- you just mention "stock" so I'm not sure whether you have the DX7s or the DX8). Either way, the region should be set for US-247 for the transmitter to work at maximum radiated RF power. Andy.
Would it be possible to get a list of compatible Futaba s-bus receivers for the M5, seems some wont work & some will. Rather than it being somewhat of a lottery, a compatible list would be very helpful ..
It's not really a lottery, there are two types of SBUS rxs. The original SBUS (the one you want for your MoVI) and SBUS2. The type should be listed in the specs of the different rxs.
