Hey guys, I'm having an issue with a Movi m10, it doesn't work and I've never seen it working. I'm basically in charge of making it work again but no one is able to tell me why it stops working in the first place... not easy. And of course, when I turn on the Movi, nothing happens. Symptoms: - no stabilization, nothing seems to happen - the 3 LEDs turn on and then quickly turn off - bluetooth works (I can play with the configurator, mac OS v 1.522) - remote pairing seems to work (orange light on both the remote and the movi when I turn the remote on) - Configurator displays: Status, Drive and IMU error. (compass and radio are good though) What I already did: - Search on the forum - Read the troubleshooting of the online user manual - charge the batteries - try with another battery - reset settings to default and recalibrate (from the configurator) 1/ My first question is maybe stupid but should I see the 3 lights staying on after turning the Movi on? On mine the three lights are turning on for a second and then quickly disappear. 2/ Can the Movi work without the remote at all? How can I change modes (remote, majestic, kill) without the remote (if possible)? 3/ Do you have any suggestions on what I should look at? Thanks a lot
Stephane is sounds like the battery is dead. You should see 3 lights with full power. So charge them up. If they do the same thing after charging then likely whoever was using discharged them to the point that they have been damaged and will need to be replaced. Without the remote you are limited. There is no kill and no remote switching. You can control a couple of tilt modes in the GUI but if you need to kill the unit the only way currently is to turn it off if you are not using the remote. With a very low battery the lights will be out but there may still be enough power to see stuff through the bluetooth and then to the GUI. Start with the battery charging and let us know what you see.
Alright, I will let you know then. But I charged them already and both batteries are doing the same thing which is weird... Thanks for the quick answer! Stephane
Check to make sure the IMU cable didn't get jiggled out. Check under the camera tray/mount on the tilt bar. Do you have a tablet or comp. so you can connect to GUI?
@Gary, maybe both of my batteries are dead. 1/ When I try to charge either one or the other battery, all LEDs first turn red. 2/ Then after less than 5 mins, the 'charge status' LED switch to green. (But never one of the others, even if I leave it charging) 3/ And if I plug the battery back in and turn the Movi on, it seems dead still. (Same thing, 3 LEDs flash green for a second on switch off right away) @Sean, I checked my IMU cable, seems fine. Yes I have a comp, here is a screenshot of my configurator: Thanks a lot guys!
Stephane sounds like someone destroyed the batteries. Order replacements. Also it looks like you are in Canada. You may want to consider buying a LiPo checker like this one which would allow you to easily check actual voltages at the total battery level and individual cells. If you check the batteries that you have likely you will find them down in the 3.3v per cell range or lower. http://www.quadrocopter.com/Hyperion-EOS-Sentry-Battery-Checker_p_1244.html
Okay. Bad news then! But hopefully that's the only reason... I will double check with a battery checker when I get one. Thanks again for the quick help! Steph
Hi Guys. Im having a problem with my Movi. My batteries are charged and not damaged. When turning on my Movi Rig the three green lights appear for 2seconds then disappear..... then no response?!? I was in the process of updating my firmware v3.08 when this happened- any advice as to what could be wrong? thanx
Dillon check that the gains didn't reset to a value of 0. If you didn't save your previous config settings and re-load them after the firmware upgrade the MoVI will simply hang loosely with no power to the motors.
Hi Dillon! I just had the same problem upgrading to 3.08, did you find the solution ? 3 flashing green lights, than nothing, and I can't connect it via bluetooth no more.. Ive heard it can be some Maverick/Yosemite problem (im on a iMac) Or Battery too.. Would be grateful if someone can find me a solution! Best Regards
Miroslav contact support@freeflysystems.com. You may have 'bricked' the unit during the upgrade. They can help you with a solution.
Thanks Gary. I've sens a request to Freefly (#16382) And Michael, I've tried a lot of thing, but it even won't connect via bluetooth.. it's like it's dead.. and It's not a battery problem, cause we tried those battery with a M5 and M15 and their work well. I've just read a lot about that famous "Jumper Cable". Maybe that's what I need. But what the hell it looks like ?! and why we don't have one with the MoVI full kit ? Sorry for my english, I'm a french canadien from Montreal. Hope to get an answer pronto.
Miroslav the support team will take you through the process. If you need a jumper they will send you one.
Jack: By "cut out" did you mean that you saw a message saying "update failed?" If so, you'll need to use a so-called bootstrap mode jumper cable. Depending upon when you got the M10, either one was included with the MoVI, or you'll need to contact support@freeflysystems.com. The procedure for using the jumper cable is documented at https://freeflysystems.zendesk.com/...-do-I-use-my-jumper-cable-to-recover-my-MōVI- Hope this helps. Andy
Thanks for a quick response, I didn't received the cable, I emailed the tech-support with a request for one, also I posted forum quesition Cheers, Jack
Hello Jack, I get the same problem updating it to the last firmware (4.01) I email the tech-support and they send me a link for a "custom" Freely configurator installer for OSX. And it works after all, cause even the Jumper cable didn't work, but it was necessary for the update. Hope I'm not too messy with my awnser. Good luck mate!
Just tried to update my firmware on a M10 and well such a surprise it didn't work. No Firmware Jumper for my M10 or M15. Didn't get one with either. With a know problem why were these not sent out to owners. I now have an M10 that sits useless. When I power up the lights go on then nothing. Is there a quick fix with out this jumper cable? Mark Z
Mark contact the support desk with a ticket. support@freeflysystems.com They may be able to talk you through getting it done or get you the jumper very quickly.
