I was wondering when we sea legs use the M15 out at sea. It's critical to have the Movi sensors on all the time. Is there a way to hot swap batteries so as to eliminate this issue?

Is there any reason you can't turn on motion booting, and just change batteries the traditional way?

Motion booting allows you to bypass the Movi's calibration upon start up. It means after it's enabled you can turn the Movi off and on all day long without requiring a still environment.

It's one of the settings in the latest firmware/GUI.

Charles maybe you can try it on one of your shoots. Maybe when the boat is headed back to port and shooting has been completed?

My understanding is that it doesn't even try to read the sensors so I would assume a hurricane couldn't deter you!

Just don't leave the discharged battery and charged battery both connected for too long -- the charged one will be trying recharge the discharged one at a pretty high current and that's definitely a Bad Thing. So do the hot swap as fast as you can consistent with safety, e.g. connect up new battery and immediately disconnect discharged battery.

They told us at Quadrocopter that the motion booting is great but after time it deteriates.

Motion booting might not work if it's too shaky. So, I'd opt for hot swapping lipos for the peace of mind. If you have soldering skills, it's very easy to build a cable for this.
