Have just received my M15, what a huge improvement on the M10! Much more Robust, the quick release is fantastic as is the road in the hole. Much more refined, I'm so glad I adopted early and was able to Go Big! Question, how are people powering the f5/55. Is it a Vlock plate on the cross bar with the xlr running down? It's going to be heavy.. Has anyone found a good powering option that works well and saves weight? Can you power with Lipo/Freefly battery with jst to xlr cable and a lipo battery alarm? Thanks Ben
There are several threads covering powering solutions. Do a search please, and you'll find a lot of useful information. Cheers,
That's really not a great response by the way. For anyone else interested it looks like it is possible to power f5\55 from a lipo. Will upload pics when I've made the jst to right angle xlr
You are on the right track. I just did that at the Abel Cine Movi workshop and it worked good. Velcro a lipo on the camera use a lipo to D tap Movi cable and a d tap to right angle XLR.
That's really useful. Thank you. I don't think you need the d tap in between though. I was thinking of just making jst to xlr straight though but with a lipo alarm to monitor the battery. The Movi is great, it's powering eveything else that becomes problematic!
Angus, did you have the power cable coming down from the second battery in the cradle? I'm going to mount on the canera so it's all contained in the gimbal. Robert, will try and post in next day or so. Fingers crossed it's all good!
Cable done, works perfectly and no long power cables from cross bar to gimbal. I can supply these cables to any f5/55 owner operators in the same position. Pic to follow
Will let you know. I'm going to monitor it through a Lipo tester and keep fan to minimum on F5. Should be ok though because it won't be powering any ancillaries or vf etc just the camera.
I've got to make one of these for a shoot this week, is anyone able to post the pinout for + - on the 4 pin XLR?
