I am new to the soldering world. I would like some tips on best solder to use for battery leads. Ive done allot of research about how to solder the leads, but haven't found the best solder to use for the job. Any advise is always appreciated. Thank you
Kester all the way. Easy order on Amazon. Don't shop at RadioShack, get quality Kester. And buy the big roll, not one of the small pen sized coils. Much cheaper on the large roll.
What connectors are you soldering on? Dean's? Or EC-5? Check out the numerous "how to" videos by doing a Google search for: soldering ec5 Also check http://forum.freeflysystems.com/index.php?threads/are-ec5-plugs-the-best.5027/#post-50233 See message #7 (and others relating to soldering). Andy.
Great Guy's, Thank you for the tips. They came in very handy, and and my first solo soldering session was a success.
Darren, if you use proper flux and the correct gauge of wire, you can take on the task of soldering battery leads without any big issues. However, soldering is not as simple as it sounds to most people starting with soldering. Always be sure to use a different de-soldering material for de-soldering since using the same soldering material won’t always spread as you’d want it to for SMD ICs. pcb cost
Hi Vedat, welcome back to the forum. If it's not too much trouble, would you be kind enough to change your user name to your real first name and last name, please? The reasons for this (and how to do it) are explained here: http://forum.freeflysystems.com/index.php?threads/real-names.497/ Thanks Andy
