I'm just going to chime in and say that I am also interested in prop guards. Never thought about it until I lost an ESC mid flight and semi lost control of the copter. Was able to safely crash land but imagined the horrors of this happening closer to people and me not being able to get control soon enough before...
Hi: I'm looking for those prop guards you have. I'm hitting a dead end going through Droidworx (now aeronavics). Any other good ideas? Thanks!
I haven't looked into getting more of these prop guards. I have the prototypes and I don't think Droidworx actually put them into production. Noel
I know the dji phantom has troubles with the prop guards. Not that i have used them. I wonder if this will be effected also?
I am not saying they are bad. I am saying that if you do a bit of research in the dji phantom world people are saying it has caused them to crash more wobble and instability. Noel test them first! You can never be to carefull
Hi Jason, I've been flying with these prop guards on an MK 6 with the GH3 for two and a half years without issue, smooth as flying without them. Our SFOC allows us to fly 100ft from the public instead of 200ft without the guards, but haven't had a situation that a 100 feet had any influence on a shoot. It is an added level of safety when flying close to people on commercial shoots. They protect the props when moving the UAV in and out of the vehicle too. Noel
Ok cool good to hear Noel. I would like to have them on my cine 8 too. But the extra size it would be very difficult to get it into the car i struggle as it is! lol
I would caution any of you who are considering doing this that designing and integrating prop guards into a hex or octo is a non-trivial task. That's a lot of weight and aerodynamic stuff going on out at the ends of the booms, and could have serious implications in performance. Done well, they'd be awesome, but I've yet to see anything out there that I'd consider acceptable.
For those looking for prop guards I find these on Japanese Website http://www.saitotec.com/heri/index.html I don't know if there sell them or not but interesting none the less
