Finished up a 4 day shoots at the dunes. Was super careful but still managed to get my tilt motor full of sand. ( hear grinding when I turn tilt motor by hand). Anyone know if it's possible to disassemble enough to clean out the sand?
You could try compressed air (like from a real compressor), being careful not to actually be pushing the sand deeper into the grooves.
I always carry a pack of this with me: http://www.green-clean.at/en/airdust-and-dusting-tools/products It's super useful for cleaning lenses, cameras, filters and even Movi.
Ive always just bought compressed air from costco (cheapest place i found it.) Under 20 dollars for 6 of them
Hey guy! Cleaned it out the best I could with air. A couple shoots later it's smooth as butter with no sand noises. I'm guessing sand didn't get in the bearings.
Those cans are so wasteful and environmentally bad. This is what I use (hacked off the 12V adapter and replaced it with an EC5 and I use it with a 3S LiPo!): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FE5PBA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I used the soda stream before you just have to be very careful, bring a gallon of ice cream just in case of failure.
