Using the S out of SWAG ... yes it would reduce the overall lift .... but probably by a very small fraction, the air column reacts against something ... just thinking along the lines of when you come into ground effect
I am waiting for this also. But appreciate them taking their time and doing it right. I would rather wait for a perfect working FC then to buy a buggy one that crashes a 10,000 copter and a several thousand dollar camera.
Are there any further updates on this? Or at least rough ideas of release date. I've been holding off getting a drone to wait for this but I'm wondering if I'm better off just getting something else as I can't wait much longer?
IMO, it will be at least one or two years before we will have any new aerial products in stores. Usually you will see a sneak peak at what they have to offer at NAB then it will be released. The next NAB will probably give you an idea if anything will be released new year. Imagine how much of the companies resources were needed to launch the M10 and M5 and its not hard to figure out where they needed to prioritize their resources and their business model. Hopefully now that these products have been very successful and as the company expands and grows they will get back to more aerial R&D over the next fiscal year.
Dave, that sounds about right. I really find quite odd how quiet FreeFly has been with regarding Synapse. I'm really starting get fed up with WKM, save me Tabb.
I have heard rumor that Freely will be releasing or at least showing a new Cinestar and Synapse at NAB but am cautious as we all know how rumors fly...Any comments?
Now that Alta and Synapse are shipping, is Snapse finally available for purchase as a stand alone controller? Price? Availability? Thank you,
Freefly will not be releasing Synapse as a stand alone FC. It will only be available through the ALTA. Josh
The technical answer is that they wanted to match the FC to the system components that they integrated. The business answer is that it allows them to sell their complete package as one unit. It prevents china from just replicating their airframe and undercutting them on that part where the only component you would buy would be the FC. It probably lowers the customer support requirement also because they don't have try to diagnose an anomaly on a system they didn't build and integrate. I think the hobby shop days where you buy what you want and integrate your own are slowly going to fade as companies mature they are moving to complete solutions vs getting a box full of carbon fiber pieces and doing it yourself. As a consumer it's sucky. As a business I can't blame them on this move.
Copy that Shaun. I concur 100%. Tis a pity though...while I'm a huge fan of FF and love what they do, rarely if ever does one manufacturer get everything perfect. Alta is amazing but not what we need for Feature Film and Episodic work regrettably but I do love the Synapse controller. :-/ Thanks mate...
I agree. As much as I like the capabilities and innovation of the Alta. I need more lift to handle twice the payload. That is why I am putting together a U8 bird. Also I am not too keen on having a Red hanging from 6 motors.
