    Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked recently but I downloaded the Mac configurator but I cannot install it. It says "Alert: can’t be installed on this computer"
    Any ideas or suggestions.

    Thanks

    Raul

  2. Raul,
Make sure you have the latest OS installed and check the security setting, that allows third party apps to be installed, is disabled.

When you get the file folder from the main Freefly site all of the configurations are there. The Mac version is in a Zip file. Unzip the file. You should then see the current Freefly Configurator 1.522.pkg. You may get a security warning and should be able to go through that.

What Mac OS version are you running? Can you try again and post a screen shot of the error?

If you are running Mavericks (10.9.x) have you changed the security setting: Settings -> Security & Privacy, General Tab, change setting to Allow Apps downloaded from Anywhere.

Personally I would follow the manual load process. Better to be asked and follow a specific process than the off chance that a virus hits you and does an auto install...

Thank you for all the responses:

Chris, I tried what you said without success.

I attached the photos with the message. And my Mac version.

Andy, I do have Mac OS X 10.7.5

    Thanks

I certainly wouldn't leave the option *set* that way, but just as a means of testing the problem it's useful. However, as Raul has said, he has 10.7.5 and I don't believe the Security settings need to be changed for that. (I went from 10.6.8 to Mavericks 10.9.2 now that it supports FCP 7).

I think this may be one for Chris Harrison to respond to -- it will require a machine running 10.7.5 to test I think.

It will not install on 10.6.8 -- just checked that.
For what it's worth, Raul, the Mavericks upgrade is free and I've done several "overlay" upgrades (where you upgrade a machine running an earlier version of OS X) -- although I did make backups of all partitions using Carbon Copy Clone just as a precaution. Only MS Office seemed to require a Product Key be re-entered on one machine -- but that was where I had also upgraded to a larger disk (well, SSD actually).

Andy and Gary, thank your for your interest.

The problem I have with Maverick is that I have a Media Composer 6.0 that will not run on Mavericks. So, I would ilke to find a solution without upgrading my OS x.

    Thank you.

Raul that's similar to Andy's issue with FCP. Until you can do an update to Mavericks consider getting a Google Nexus Tablet. They are pretty inexpensive these days.

Yeah it's living proof of the adage that's been around the software business for a while: "Only obsolete software works right." ;)

OK, I will describe my solution. I hope it help others.

In order to install de freefly mac configuration app I had to upgrade my Os X into Mavericks. But my editing software wouldn't work with this new OS X. So I had to upgrade my editing software but it would cost me more money I do not want to spend right know.

So I partitioned my internal hard disk in order to have both Mac OS X working. So, when I use my editing software I would use Lion, and when I use the Freefly configuration app I reboot my computer in Mavericks version.

I hope this help others with this issue.

Thank you to everybody that help with my situation.

    Raul
