I'm curious what kind of monitoring mount ideas people are doing? Clamps, arms, etc.. For that matter throw in any accessory mounting that goes on the Movi handles Please post links if possible where they can be purchased. Ill be mounting the smallhd 4"
That's perfect! thanks Tsuyoshi Without opening a new thread can someone suggest which controller tray to get? I have no clue here. There seems to be a blue one and a red one and a bunch of pieces ill probably miss. My intent is to have a shoulder brace to rest the Movi controller with a 7" small hd or a 6" smallhd The other shoulder brace for a 6-7" smallhd and remote focus. Could someone who has a setup break down their accessories?
See photo. I have the small HD as well. I mounted it using a Manfrotto ball head and used some plumber's rubber (available at Home Depot) to secure it.
Hi Chris, It's possible to mount it with the dp4 ball head that comes in the box. You just need to take off the hot shoe plate and fit a bolt to replace it. It worked great for me. Thanks Ben
What I find with the DP4 ballhead (once you've wrestled with removing the hot-shoe -- man, it was on tight), is that it's all too easy for the monitor to rotate left/right (which typically you don't want), and not so easy for it to tilt up/down -- that being the axis I tend to want to move the DP4 (especially with the sunshield on it). The easiest thing, therefore, is to tighten the ballhead pretty tight, but loosen the two M3 bolts holding the boom clamp just enough to where you can slide the clamp around the boom. Andy
Here's how I'm mounting my upstairs junk. These Dinkum mounts are great because they're strong, very light (half that of the Manfrotto ball heads I was using). And if you grab the monitor and tweak it quickly it will stay put. And only $32. Big fan. Here's the link: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/887899-REG/Dinkum_3006_Action_Pod.html
Nice and creative setup Ben. Do you find that the plastic clips hold the monitor tightly enough that it doesn't slide? Does the Dinkin arm unscew from the clamp?
Yeah, the dinkum mounts are made to hold up a big SLR with a zoom lens, so it's plenty strong. No sliding or moving at all, unless you move it on purpose. And yes, the spring clamp can be removed. As you can see in the first photo, I removed the one that I'm using on my monitor. I have that one bolted to the Freefly mount with a 1/4-20. The spring clamp came attached with a 1/4-20 screw and lock nut.
Nice, Ben. Better solution than I had in mind. Can you pop the segments apart, and remove a couple, and shorten your dinkum, so to speak? Andy.
I definitely heard you ask that with your flowery Oxford English inflection. And yes, they come apart for maximum versatility. I prefer it short; otherwise it gets way too top-heavy. I could easily go on....
We've been using a Impact Atom Clamp it has made a big difference in being able to make adjustments with one hand on the fly.
