Sure you can run MK flt ctr on 6s just as long as you replace the switching regulator for one that handles 25v also swap the capacitor for a 25v cap and you're good. I was also curious as to why you didn't go with 6s.

6.5v-32v input to 5v output Switching reg:
http://www.tracopower.com/products/tsr1.pdf You would want the TSR1-2450 Traco reg. Use a low ESR 25v cap.

MK board running 6s and Herk III ESCs

Well dang... didn't know that... I'll look into it. What flight time difference will there be between the 5s and 6s?

I have no idea, maybe the others who are flying 6s can chime in. I'd like to know myself! My next big lifter will have to be 6s capable...Tabb are you there:)

Josh, maybe you could run some test for all of us who are following along?

The Recom R-78C5.0-1.0 has an input range of 8V-42V.

You could use a 10S, if your not using Mikrokopters ESCs. :)

It's very easy to convert your FC to 6 or even 8s. See Pic
    Remove green caps
    Ad 2x 35v

    pink = connected ground cap
    Replace recom with tsr 1-2450

Edit; will get a better pic tomorrow

Hi TFCM, our question was relating to real world gains going the 6s route over 5s. Some say motors run hotter on 6s and others say they haven't seen any real flight time gains going 6s but then others say just the opposite. I guess it all really depends on an individual's setup. I do want to go 6s on my next build but I also think about traveling by air with 10-12 6s 5000mAh lipos, that's a 'bleep' load of heavy and hazardous looking equipment to some silly under-trained tsa agent.

    Ok guys,
Started the build yesterday. Got the power distro block built (what a pain!) and all the deans soldered on the ESCs. I also have them all updated and program. Next step today is to start taking my current copter apart and mounting everything to it.

A few pictures are attached for you.

Nice Josh! very clean. I feel your pain, soldering is my least favorite task. I also followed Tabb's distro idea, I love it..best solution I've seen in a long time. What will your approximate AUW be? I'm very curious about those motors on 5s and 15" props.

    use 35V caps

the traco,s can take 30Volts not 25 so your fine to run on 6S

Well guys I got more finished up.

All the bullet connectors connected to the ESCs, the new RECOMs on the FC and the FC re-programmed (used my old FC From the gimbal), and got the I2C-->PWM converter connected to the FC.

I also removed the old BLs from the frame, and removed all the motors. I am going to be re-drilling my CS motor mounts to fit the new motors. 2 of the 4 mounting holes line up with the new motors. Im hoping to have that done today along with mounting the new booms.

My apartment looks like a bomb went off... or that I am building one...

Don't forget to cover the pressure sensor on the FC board with some Velcro or foam to reduce gust sensitivity!
(The correct response to this is: Yes dear.....):)

Homeland Security is probably monitoring your activities....
