    Ok SO i need a solution i fly on construction sites for work where take offs and landings are on metal plates and sometimes take off on slopes and ramps where soft wheels i have seen people use we just not work!!:(

    As i as try to have soft landings with this gimbal 5 times out ten it comes down a little harder then i would like. I would like to know if anybody has a solution to my problem?

    I am thinking screwing rubber or something to the bottom it.

    I have a AV200 gimbal I just strapped a pool noodle to the bottom of the landing gear which worked great:).

    can anybody help me??

    Thanks in advance

    I've been using the pool noodle for quite some time now, always work, the only problem is that with a 2 Axis gimbal you have to move the landing gear arms on booms 8 and 2 a little closer to the center plate otherwise the noodle will appear in the picture during a fast sideways pan.
    I don't think I fully understand your question. Do you have problems landing on those surfaces because the CS slips or you need a solution to make the CS land smother on any surface?

    One solution I and others use (4' snow) is to have an assistant grab it out of hover.
    Don't hover into a waiting assistant. I mean bring it to a 7' hover at the landing site and then the
    assistant approaches/grabs landing gear while you shut engines off.

    hope this helps

    Good tip, I forgot that, just ALWAYS remember the catcher to keep the hands as far as possible from the propellers. :D

    Arthur i just used for the first time yesterday i found it a little heavy landing which moved the side arms on the roll axis down. It doesnt slip or anything just want a softer landing if required. Can you post a pic of your landing gear with the noodles?

    I run a two man show and yes I do have him catch it from time to time if things get a little hectic closer to the ground.

    but i don`t want him to catch it every time we fly!!

    any other ideas?

    Sounds like the old Air Force joke:

    Problem: "Test flight OK, except autoland very rough."
    Solution: "Autoland not installed on this aircraft."

    Have you tried programing a Throttle Curve on the radio to smooth the middle position of the stick? It works pretty much like an exponential but for the motors. Here is an example.

    Stick Position Motor Power Motor Power with throttle curve (suggested)
    Top = 100% 100% 100%
    3/4 = 75% 75% 70%
    Middle = 50% 50% 50% <- assuming this is the Hover power
    1/4 = 25% 25% 30%
    Bottom = 0% 0% 0%

    If you would like a deeper explanation just ask, but please tell me what radio do you use, so I can take a look how to do it :D

    For the picture of the noodle on the landing gear, here's one:

    Are the pool noodles just pushed on, Arthur? Or did you attach them by some mechanical means?

    How do you establish the percentage value for hovering? It's one of those things that's eluded me -- do you use Xbee and MK Tools Channels and get a reading on the throttle? Or look at a GPX file post-flight?

    I do my best landings with variable Altitude Hold on** ....

    Andy

    ** No. Not really. I'm joking. :)

    Arthur I am using DX8 sprektrum for my radio I dont need to change the Throttle Curve on the radio it flys fine!

    Hmm interesting i dont really like the noodle look but I am sure it does a great job! no offense!!

    another question what are using for your battery straps? can you send a link for what you use?

    Andy to answer your question that`s exactly how you do it xbee and mk tool channel will tell you

    Thanks, Smoke. One less mystery in the Universe.

    I think the pink pool noodles make the Cinestars less, err...sinister.... :)
    We could paint smiley faces on the ends of the noodles and never call them drones.

    The noodles are extremely ugly I confess :D.
    I used to just push them in place, later on I started to add a little hot glue to make sure they don't fall off. But keeo in mind, they wear out quite fast.
    My battery straps are simple Velcro straps no mystery here, the only difference is that now I use the Align Battery Strap because my friends hobby shop has tons of it :) I used to have the Turnigy ones.

    Hey, Arthur: you know what we do in computers when something doesn't work right: We declare it to be a "feature."

    So, go with that idea -- carve the noodles into the shape of LampiĆ£o (Brazilian outlaw folk hero). :D
