    Hello,

I am building my cinestar 8 hl build right now and have just come to the wiring on the flight controller.

Could use help as I can't figure out which spots to solder the plus and minus.

It also looks like there are wires that come off for the LED...but in the video I am either missing where it goes through that step by step for soldering.

Thought maybe a picture or two might help if anyone has them.

    Thanks!

    Ryan

    Hey Andy,

    Thanks! Yes.

That diagram doesn't show me what to do for the LED that comes off the of the small circuit board that is coming off of the flight controller.

I am also wondering if I should have a molex connector?

    Appreciate your help.

    Ryan

I did find the molex connector.

Still trying to find the info for the LED wiring.

Not sure how to mount the extension circuit board that the LED wiring comes from.

    Thanks!

    Ryan

    Hey Andy,

    Yes, that is the one.

I do have the dvd's that came with the cinestar hl but it's off of a regular cinestar 8 and not the hl...so some steps are missing or look different because of that.

In the dvd I can see the LED wires coming off of it but I am unsure which exact ones they are in the HL kit and how to mount the extension PCB.

    Thanks again!

    Ryan

Actually the Extension PCB is the same for the non-HL Cinestar, Ryan.
As to where to mount it -- the best answer is "somewhere convenient." Not a very good answer, I know, but I ended up mounting it to part of the power distribution board -- that was the prior model of power distribution board. You may, for example, want to mount it to an unoccupied hole on the top hub plate using a 3mm nylon nut and machine screw.

Steve Maller's done a build using the new power distribution board -- I've emailed him and asked him to check out this thread. Steve's advice will be better than me trying to fake that I know what I'm talking about. Jeez....even when Steve fakes it, his advice is usually better than my faking advice. :)

    Andy.

    Ryan,
If you’re using one of the BL-Ctrl3 based power boards with the FC 2.5, you no longer need the extension board. All of the functions have been integrated into the Flight Control and Power Distro Board.

    Hey Steve!

    Oh boy...

    I am using:
    • Double Quadro 2XL Pre-Soldered Bl-Ctrl V3.0 Power Distribution Board
    • Flight Control V2.5 ME
That would be better as they have you solder everything onto that small board and I want everything to be perfect; so taking that away would eliminate that. However...is there somewhere I can look to see how to wire up the LEDS to the correct boards then. (As they have the LEDS going to the extension board)
    Thanks so much!
    Ryan

Flattery will get you nowhere, sir.

(and it’s Chianti you prefer, right?)

There are several pads (marked in green on this diagram: http://gallery.mikrokopter.de/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=145137&g2_serialNumber=1), any one of which you can solder a +/- pair of wires to then split into however many LED strips you have. Then you connect the gray cable from the PDB to the FC as noted below. Lastly, you need to configure the Out1 or Out2 LEDs in MK Tool the same way you would have with the Extension board.
Go here for more info: http://www.mikrokopter.de/ucwiki/en/DoubleQuadro-BL-Ctrl_3
What is the gray 1-line cable for?
Plug the gray connector cable into Out1 or Out2 of the FC to use switchable LED-Lights

Unfortunately my copter’s stripped down right now awaiting some down time for me to install the new motors, and I took the opportunity to do some conformal spraying of my boards, too. Otherwise I’d be happy to shoot some pictures for you. But this is what the bird looks like right now.

The universe has proven that theory wrong....

Actually no, but I just happened to have had a good glass of Chianti.
Personally, I prefer, oh, say, Silver Oak, or Woodward Canyon. Or anything from Sir Peter Michael. :)

    Good Morning Steve,

    Sorry to bug you again.

You mentioned the gray 1 line connector coming out of the power distribution board goes to the out 1 or out 2 of the flight control. I have been looking on MK's website and am not sure which connection is the out 1 or out 2?

    Thanks in advance,

    Ryan

    No problem.
    Look here: http://www.mikrokopter.de/ucwiki/en/FlightCtrl_ME_2_5#connections_Bottom
It’s labeled as #5 in the picture. The top is Out1 (labeled Servo1) and the bottom is Out2. I’m not sure if I’m using Out1 or Out2. Like I said, I have the copter apart right now...sorry.
The single gray wire goes to the signal side.
