We wanted to keep the weight of the Movi down so we created some battery mounting plates that use the same batteries as the Movi to power our accessories. The plates are ultra secure and feature p-tap connectors. We love the Movi batteries because they are ultra lightweight and pack a lot of power. Check the plates out:
I was thinking about it. If more people want them, then we can make them. The only changes I would make would be to anodize it black, some of that cool cloth cable covering to cover up the wire harness and to find a smaller inline fuse holder. Here are some closer up pics of the plates. I think they would run somewhere in the neighborhood of $150 each—as you can see there is a lot of work that goes into them and each has 2 ptaps on it. Also the battery monitor and fuses are a must. There are two different plates—one for the gimbal and one for the top handle. If people are interested, just leave a note on this post. If we get enough interest, we could do a run.
Welcome to the forum philplanta. Would you be kind enough to change your user name to your real first name and last name, please? The reasons for this (and how to do it) are explained here: http://forum.freeflysystems.com/index.php?threads/real-names.497/.
Are you powering your camera with these batteries as well? I have a Blackmagic 4k camera and am trying out how to power the camera while on the movi. Giving me a headache.
No, but it would probably be pretty easy to do so. Looks like the BMCC takes 12-30V which the Movi battery outputs 14-15 so it should work just fine. Just figure out what connector the BMCC uses and wire it up.
How long do you think one of those batteries would power up the Blackmagic? How do you power your camera on the rig?
Hi everyone. I am going to go ahead and get this made up myself. I have spoken to a few specialist cable manufacturers and am awaiting quotations from them. I am making the battery plate out of carbon fibre, it will connect to the movi accessory bracket. Before I go ahead I wanted to hear some opinions on what people think of the following idea: Lipo battery mount going from jst - 3X dtaps. (to mount on top crossbar) Super flexible d-tap - 2 pin lemo to power FF (long enough to go from top crossbar down to FF, 80 CM long enough?) essentially 1 battery to power them all. Questions: 1: will 1 lipo handle all 3 accessories, redrock FF, Paralinx,SmallHD ? 2: is it worth trying making up a super flexi cable to power the FF? Or is it a better idea to put a second lipo on the gimbal and have one less hanging cable? It would be good to get an idea of how many people would be interested in a custom carbon fibre battery mount.
