@Jason No those are handheld gimbals. For flying the gimbal it self it weighs 5lbs. and all belt drive. @Milo LOL yea you have to have very strong arms and even then is heavy. The closer the handles are to your body the easier to lift. Bill
Hmm... This looks like a brushless gimbal a certain freefly member is building for me (minus the handle bars)...............Hmm.............
how does this work: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/pro...Adapter-Kit-fo-GBM8017/109347_1524374419.html i think it is difficult to get the pan to hold propperly with just direckt drive, will the pan axis hold better with this mounted? thanks.
The pan holds good with direct drive with a bigger motor but it will hold better with this setup. \ Bill
ok thanks ,i think it is a little week just with 5208 120 turns direckt drive so i want ti test with a 8017 120 turn on pan with belt
I use the 8017, 8108,GB-100 and the GB-85 direct drive and they work. With belt drive it will be better but heavier. Bill
Has anyone used a joystick on there handheld yet. And if so how did you hook it up? I tore apart a PS2 controller and took the sticks out but having a hard time finding a pinout and hooking it up right. I know the rows of 3 are for the pots but where would the wires from them go to the board?
Hi everybody, I know this topic is right about what I'm looking for. The fact is that I've read a lot of pages but it's hard to follow the entire discussion so I ask again the first question. I have a cinestar 3 axis gimbal with tarot zyx-gs (really not happy with the tarot software that crashes every 10 seconds) and I would like to convert it into brushless gimbal. Can somebody give me witch parts will I need? Thank you very much in advance. Nicolas
This is my pan modification using belt drive. Vibration come from center gbm motor/pulley. Also big lag respons during pan. I might missing something here or choose a wrong belt (Got it from here ; http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/CS040-Pulley-for-Pan-Axis/109347_904881335.html) Any suggestion, please? Ary
here you fin here you find everthing you need http://www.aliexpress.com/store/group/Brushless-Gimbal-and-parts/109347_211308012.html
That's a good link Kjetil but you have to know what to get . You just don't buy anything you see. You have to match the pieces according to your setup and flying weight. Bill
Yes that's it. Bill you seems to be very involved in this topic. Can you help me with some more precise components? So I have the standard cinestar 3 axis and my goal is to fly with canon 5d and if possible a red (my clients often ask to fly a red and now I can't). Also witch electronic do you recommand? Thank you in advance, Nicolas
Nicolas, first off you either going to fly with the 5D or similar or the RED. When you change between two cameras it requires re-balancing of the system. Takes along time. The 5D been lighter you can get away with smaller motors but with the RED ( naked @ 2770gr) you require stronger motors and different cages. How big is your copter, how much can you lift, how long you want to stay up, one or two man operation ? These are all questions you have to ask your self and decide which way to go. I am not negative about this, I built many gimbals for different setups and all are Cinestar style. Think about it and give your answer here. Regards Bill
As far as the electronics go, I use and recommend the Alexmos board from Flyduino. I wont use anything else. Bill
