December Training

Discussion in 'Announcements' started by Denise Fitzgerald, Nov 22, 2013.

  1. Hi Everyone...December is a crazy time of year no matter what country you live in. While we would love to be able to offer one more owners training session onsite this year here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, between the upcoming holidays and our move (we are moving into a larger facility), it doesn't seem like that is going to be possible. Before you crawl deep into the depths of despair, read on as we have come up with an alternative. We would like to try out a couple of live webinars. This will give more folks the opportunity to attend as there will be no travel required (just some large doses of caffeine depending on what time of the day or night it will be for you). The live broadcast will have some Q&A at the end and whatever questions we don't get to we will post answers to here on the forums. To make these the most useful for you...we want to know what your top 3 topic choices would be. Keep in mind that ideally the webinar would be about an hour so the subject matter chosen should also be something that can be covered in that time frame. We will be looking to do a couple this month and then possibly continuing with others as we go forward. So let's hear it...what would be your top 3 choices?

    Denise,
Appreciate the idea of doing the webcast, i'm sure it will be useful information in it, but it's really not a replacement for a hands-on class. Kinda like a lecture as opposed to a lab, (you sometimes don't know what to ask until your doing it).

Without trained operators, and things can happen. There was a high end production being shot recently and they hired a guy to get a shot with the MoVI, he didn't know what he was doing, he could not get the shot they needed, and now that production company will not use a MoVI again. That is bad for all of us.

To me, right now training should be a top priory. You finally got rigs out and running, then next step is to make sure every production is a positive experience.

With that being said if you're going to do a webinar do it on the basics.
1). Balancing cameras and balancing them quickly. What's the best configuration for a red, C300, DSLR. etc. with follow focus and wireless video.
2). How to use the GUI interface in detail. What number should you be getting for each type of camera?
3). Power options. What is currently available and what is possible?

  3. Hi Jeff...Thanks for the feedback, We agree 100% on the training priority and have been working with and recently signed a large distributor to help with training as well. We are a small but rapidly growing company and while our monthly training sessions have been very successful, part of that is due to the limited class size to increase knowledge transfer. With limited class sizes and our single location, we are excluding a large population of folks. We have been working on curriculum for operator training in addition to the owners training and different delivery options. I assure you that our decision not to have a live class in December was not taken lightly (despite my lighter communication style) and does not detract from the work we are doing to make training available on a broader scale. Thanks again for the feedback and the topic suggestions, they are much appreciated.
