does anybody know if the MOVI M10 works with the Arri Alexa M or not? any experience? any ideas. need to know it in the next 5 hours. thanks
I guess there are no experiences yet, i will try this next week. There is no weight issue, but the M could be too deep, especially the optical connector. It has to be the 15 ft. steadicam cable, which is very flexible. I am quite sure it will work, with ultraprimes and a light motor like Heden... Best, Wolf
I have run with an Alexa M on my rig before. You really need the special modified fiber cable to make it completely fluid. Although I didn't have one in time, so I was able to mount the M upside down and make it work for the simple shot we needed. Email me if you need anymore info. -Ryan ryanhaug@gmail.com
Ok, i tested today, and the Alexa M is working with the Mōvi with some small restrictions. You need to use very light lenses (i.e. Cooke 2.1 or Zeiss High Speeds) I also mounted the cam upside down (thanks Ryan!), and used the flexible (steady cam) cable, but the optical plug is reaching to far out at the back. So you need to tilt the complete rig to the front to get enough play for the tilt axis, as the plug is hitting the roll bar in the lowest position. The stabilization worked out great. We now try to built a cornered plug solution…. Best, Wolf
I"ll try, but if you click on the pics, they should show up right... ;-) By the way, they were in the right way up before loading up, don't know what happened... Best Wolf
Hi Wolf: The images are inverted in both the thumbnail and when you click on them. Did you take them with an iPhone or iPad? That's usually the way to get them to show up inverted when you don't want them to be inverted. You may have to bring them in to Photoshop and re-save them -- there's an embedded field in the image that defines their orientation, I believe. Specifically it's called an EXIF flag. I'm not sure whether you're a PC or Mac user, but you can probably find a free app to change the orientation if you search for: exif orientation flag Andy.
Ok, thanks Andy, fixed it... Ben, the cable doesn´t compromise the stabilization at all. But we didn´t check really hard settings like fast running, just some quick moves and up and down shifts. Best, Wolf
Hi, yes the cam head and the follow focus are powered from the backpack through the steadycam cable. The monitor and Teradek will get the sdi signal also from the backpack since there is no sdi at the head. Wolf
Dear Tabb, i hope you will offer the longer side-tubes and pan-tube as seen in the amazing bts-film soon in the shop, to make us all able to use this wonderful cam without the above restrictions... Thanks! Best, Wolf
Yes are there any further developments to enable the Alexa M and sony F55 to fit on the MoVI with longer tubes etc, i have several jobs wanting to use both on the MoVI, Thanks best Mark
That's good news! Thanks Tabb, and i wish you and the team peaceful and nice christmas days! Best, Wolf
That sounds quite amazing. I keep running into issues with the side tubes being as short as they are. My epic is down to 9 lbs loaded with all its AKS and Im thinking I can get a small angineux zoom on the rig if the side tubes being longer. Count me in for a full set when they are ready to ship!
