I found this interesting. Many of you are probably familiar with the famoushobby shop on aliexpress, they don't have a lot listed as far as individual motor cages, but they have gimbals for sale that are all using them. I contacted them and asked if they would sell them individually. They sent the following price sheet. I grabbed the pan and roll for the 8100 series motors and two of the smaller 5100 series cages for the motors I already have. Everything I have been using is 3D printed, and while it is working with my GH3, I would be very hesitant to push it any further than that.
Eric, Those are good parts and I as well have had great success with Famoushobby, but I was thinking the belt driven would be better allowing for more torque while not having to put bigger and heavier motors on the gimbal to get more performance. Thoughts?
I don't have experience with the belt drive, though a lot of guys are using it on here, and I respect their opinions. I'll find out soon whether the 8108 on the pan is a good solution.
They claiming it is, All you have to do is try it. If it don't work you can allways go back to belt drive. I found that belt reduction has more torque than direct drive and you can use like Taylor said smaller motors. On my photos above I have the pan and roll on belt and the torque is amazing, next I will convert the tilt the same way. Bill
Sorry for the delay. Here's what the plate looks like. It attaches to the bottom of the cage. You have to use 40mm screws Bill
Is anyone actually using the external flight control gain inputs with AlexMOS firmware on a 3 axis gimbal? And can anyone comment how follow mode works for Multi's, not handheld units, while in the air?
Hi Sean, You have to assign a switch to the profile. One for profile 1 for follow mode on and profile 2 for follow mode off. When you change from pro 1 to pro 2 you can see it in the graph. Cheers
Ryan, I have put it all together, though I haven't had time to get the alexmos on the new gimbal setup properly yet. I can't say much of any use other than this is a heck of a motor. I have one on the roll as well, and initial tests without tweaking the PID settings with a 3s battery (a bench test, I will run 4s when it is in use) and very quick balancing and the grip the motors had was leaps and bounds above the 5106 I had been using (I now have dual 5106 on the tilt, and they seem to work well together).
5D III with a 17-40, the motors can handle a lot more if you are using it handheld, otherwise it just depends on how much your MR can lift.
Ive pulled the trigger and ordered the parts to convert to 3 axis brushless. I need to order a controller now and am a bit stuck, am i better ordering two viacopter alexmos boards or 1 elite power board. I like the fact the elite power is all in one and has no issue supplying amps, even though the specs are way over kill. They will cost about the same to buy, but which one is better?
about to bite the bullet on the 3axis conversion kit and high power 3 axis alexmos bluetooth board from brushlessgimbals, but i have my doubts on that board vs getting a legit ELITE. thoughts?
Don't go cheap. Get the Alexoms board from Flyduino or Viacopter is black and stamped with the Flyduino and Viacopter logos. Bill
