Back in the mid 2000's some German soaring pilots got together to build an open class glider. The ultimate open class glider. The result was the Eta. 2 person glider with a 30.90m (101 ft 5 inch) wingspan. Compares to the 211ft wingspan of a 747. Cost was clearly no object as the last i had heard the price for each of the handbuilt Eta's was approximately $1.5M USD and might have been higher. So Mario is right on point. Anyone started looking at turbine engines yet
