    Hello Experts,

I know there is a long thread about how to convert the Cinestar to heavy lift but I could not find the answers to all my questions. Maybe in part because time moved on and different components are now available.

I would like to upgrade my CS8 with MK electronics 45cm booms and KW 8 engines to use with 5-6s Batteries, as my BLs get too hot with heavier loads. Modifying the standard MK power distribution board as mentioned in the thread above seems to require special expertise in soldering and I don't see anyone actually flying this way.

As the Aerodrive Board seems not too well rated and expensive and the Hercules III is nowhere available I found the following components. Would they work well together, do I miss anything? Has anyone done a setup with these parts:

    Power dist Board:
    http://www.kopterworx.com/New-product-in-April/Power-dist-board-8-+-Dual-Bec

or would this one make more sense:
    http://www.kopterworx.com/DJI-Power/Power-Hungry-Distro-board-400A

ESCs, sorry, only in german but i guess u get the idea:):

    or these:
    http://www.kopterworx.com/New-product-in-April/Maytech-MT50A-SimonK-firmware

How do I programm the ESCs ?
Also I don't quite get the idea of the wiring between the dist. board and the ESCs.

I would appreciate your thoughts and expertise on that and hope to get some interesting hints from you guys!

Herkules is available just not listed on the Kopterworx website. Freefly recently released the Freefly Motor Control set set that has what you need and fits perfectly on the CS series. You may still need to modify the MK FC board depending on how you hook things up.

Just contact Kopterworx... they will get you sorted with a Hercules or at least point you in the direction. If you want to use the MK flight controller this is your best option currently.

Thanks, talked to kopterworx, not very much information they give but they say hercues is available.....if I use the hercules, would I just need to connect the engines to the powerboard and connect MK Flightcontrol, how about telemetrie?

Before I spend that much on a new board I woul like to know what work and additional parts are needed to get everything done...
Seems noone has made a tutorial or manual or something or is it that easy to do:) ?

    Cheers

    Manuel

Kopterworx seems to be the defacto experts on that board. Since it is I2C based you get all of the telemetry of of the MK stack just as if you were using the MK PDB. I would start a solid dialog with Kopterworx.

The QC motors can only take up to 5s. If your wanting to do 5s or 6s you need to modify the FC.

If your only using 5s you need to swap the two RECOMS on the FC to these: http://www.quadrocopter.com/DCDC-Converter-for-Flight-Controller-ME_p_59.html

If your going to use 6s you need the two Above Recoms +

2x 35V 330uF Caps and need to remove all the small caps on the FC (green in the second picture).

One side note is the copter will not read the correct voltage anymore if your using 6s batteries (4s and 5s batteries are still correct). You need to set the low voltage .4V HIGHER then what you actually want it to go off at. Example. If I want my low voltage going off at 3.6V per cell or 21.6V total I need to set the low voltage to go off at 22V.

    Hope this helps.

What batteries are you using? That does sound low.

Thats the problem then. That battery has a really bad voltage sag. It won't handle the continuous power that your copter is demanding. Your better off getting 2 6200's or two 5000mAh from QC or Turnigy and run them in parallel.

I should note that I, along with a couple other people on this forum, purchased that same battery and all experienced the same issue.

I would try a different battery first. A lot cheaper then the FF ESC set.
