    Hi Bill,

The new GUI is up and running ( with the new firmware). We are releasing it in a few day for public beta test, but if you wish to test it i can send it to you with no problems.

Just make sure that your motor cables are as short as possible, and i highly recommend you to hook up small coils (at least 2 turns in each) on the motor wires right out of the Alexmos controller.

It is also possible to hook 2 alexmos controllers togehter to have access to the 3 axis, and the small addon module should be soon ready ( it's in prototyping now).

Anyway, shall you have any interrest in testing the new GUI / Firmware with the Follow mode ( it follows the frames or the hand held movements) and all new functions ( Profiles presets...) , just let me know :)

    Best regards,

    Fabien
Ps: small video of the new GUI introduction, i'm very sorry for my awfull english accent lol !

    @ Matt,
Is roughly assembled but here it is.
The wire comes in the kit but is not cut, Thank God for the Dremmel.
And those tiny grub screws, let me tell you I'm glad is only one time.

    Bill

I hope you did get the link to the new GUI / Firmware Bill, soon we should release the public beta firmware :)

    Hi,

the Alexmos board is manufactured from various companies, some are officialy licensed versions, some are copies.
The board we use are of course the E-copter / Viacopter / Flyduino versions, fully licencesd by Alexmos ,and the third axis module is a small upgrade that plugs on the I2C port. It is also possible to hook up 2 boards and interconnect to get the 3rd axis but it's a bit.. overkill lol ( but some people do it)..

So in short, if the Alexmos board you have is an officialy licenced one from Aleksey ( Alexmos / Basecam) then yes it will be upgradable witht he additional module with no problems.

Prototype modules work already and will soon get in production, and they can handle up to 7a like the 2 axis boards, for each channel, so it should be ok to drive large gimbals like the cinestar if the cable lenght are not too long and if ferrite rings are used ( important to avoid noise). It is highly recommended to use either a LC filter or separate power. For a small Go Pro camera, power drain is close to 300 mAh only so with a 850mah 3S or 4s lipo, you got plenty of "gimbal " time. We will make tests on Nex 5 and Panasonic GH3 soon but we are designing very specific motors for these. I won't talk about these here as it's a Freefly user forum and i will limit my answers / infos / tech help to the cinestar brushless converted gimbals using the Alexmos controller. I will grab a Cinestar gimbal and convert it to make power measurements and tests to have a bit more useful tips for helping the people converting their gimbals in DIY mode using the Alexmos boards :).

    Best regards,

    Fabien
