Hi Bill, I checked your photos with the 5206 GBM on the tilt side but I don't see where is the motor's shaft. On the 5206's datasheets, there is a 12x5 mm shaft on the rotor's side! Have you inversed the shaft? Is it on the other side? Also what is the diametre of the piece you add on the rotor for join the axis clamp? I guess 5 or 6mm. Am I right? I think I 'll try with a propeller mount to do this your system! Have you set a 5206 GBM on the roll axis?? I've ordered two 5206GBM and for the roll axis I think at fix a plate directly on the rotor! Good or bad idea? I am on global reflexion step before to use my hands!! ;-) Thanks for your sharing! Tristan, there's no shaft on the motor. The shafty is flash with the bell and the other side is a c-clip. Yes I do have 5206 on roll also. The shaft I am using is 6mm or (1/4")
Hi Bill, how do you plan to use the tarot to control the 3rd axis, isn't it also a servo based controller?
I was going to use the original belt and pulley system of the CS. But that means I would have an extra battery so, I used a brushless motor with another controller to handle the Pan. Bill
Hi Bill, Been reading your posts here (and other forums) with interest. Have you done much ground based testing and tuning of the CS gimbal performance with 3rd axis using BL controller? Alexmos controller I assume. I also wonder if the yaw brushless motor will have sufficient torque to hold the CS orientation correct on spool up on the ground before take off? I have been using my own designed and built 2 axis BL gimbal with a TM900 panasonic camcorder. The performance difference between CS gimbal with servos and radians and the simple BL gimbal is like night and day... especially for roll axis which the CS gimbal always had some visible twitches. The AlexMos controller using fw 1.3 by itself does not seem to keep horizon always nice and level when yawing.... but I am now getting good results.... with zero post stabilization. I have also made conversion parts for my CS gimbal... roll axis only for now... but not really happy as roll on yawing is more pronounced than with my simple own designed and build 2 axis BL gimbal. Guess it needs more tuning.... but very happy with my own BL gimbal for now... until I have more time to tune CS BL gimbal. Sean
Is there a setting in the Alexmos software that allows you to dampen pan and tilit movement? Your video is awesome but I can't live with that hard start/stop of manual control...for me it ruins the shot.
Howard there's a new GUI coming out that will be able to do that. But we all waiting. Anyway I got my parts from QC and will start rebuilding my bird. Plus a small addition to the gimbal. I have to get a bigger place. Bill
hehe I knew you'll ask. Those are damper plates with SS wire rope. There is another set and is attached to the gimbal plate and is floating. Bill
@Jason. The good thing about this system is that you can remove some wires to make it stiffer or softer according to what payload you are carrying. Bill
