Nice work Bill! And if you want your gimbal to stay balanced, exchange marked plastic clamps for Al-ones! (one is behind cam.) Best regards. /Janne
Thanks Janne. You are right, I know that the Movi uses alu clamps but they are $25 a pop. I'll see how the gimbal behaves and make the change later. Is just that when I order something from QC customs and duties kill me. There must be an easier way. Bill
Yes I know their price, but theese four are mandatory for the gimbal. Freefly small spareparts are indeed expensive! Maybe you bye one and get a local shop make a box full, then start selling them for 24,99 or cheaper ;-)
I tried but they are out of stock. Tabb when are you getting some more 25mm metal clamps? Thanks I need to order some other items also. Bill
Bill and Janne, the clamps are a nice addition but not required depending on the camera load being carried. My Nikon D800 does fine with the standard clamps. A RED or FS700 I would upgrade to the metal clamps. Also would upgrade the tilt clamps or simply buy the dual adjustable tilt bars which include the metal tilt clamps.
Thanks Gary. Is that for the load only or for flexing also, I was thinking of adding another pair of clamps on the center post. Bill
The only adds I have seen is to replace the clamps on the roll bar, center and the ones on the end that hold the tilt bars. The roll bar was tending to rotate under heavy loads. Haven't heard of anyone replacing anything on the vertical post.
Sorry Gary but I disagree with you here. My plastic clamps did not even hold firm my GH3 with 12-35 lens. The metal ones is a totally new thing when it comes to holding things in their place! Best regards. /Janne
Did some changes today, I added a second collar to take off the strain off the motor but I had to add some washer between the clamps to give some space. Also changed the 5010T150 with the 5206T150 more torque on those motors even when I try to move the tilt down by hand I get resistance. Bill
Hi Bill I'm Tristan, new here. I just read all the pages and then all the work you have done. Nice job! For one month, I'm looking on the web for tips to create a brushless gimbal. I also chose the 5206 GMB but I have a question in relation to the high-pitched sound during operation. In fact, I would realize this gimbal to shoot with sound and I'm afraid the sound engineer hates me! Do you have any idea how to reduce the noise. Someone told me that you can change the frequency of motor or ESC? I also find that the movi possessed Inrunner motor. The worry is that Inrunner have less torque. This is a problem, as my english! ;-)
Tristan welcome to the forums. Would you be kind enough to change your user name to your real first name and last name, please? The reasons for this (and how to do do it) are explained here: http://forum.freeflysystems.com/index.php?threads/real-names.497/. Thanks and your English is fine...
Tristan there's nothing you can do about the whine the motor makes. The controller sends the signal at 8khz. When the new GUI comes out you will be able to reduce the whine by changing the frequency to 32Khz. That is what I was told. So, for the time been I put up with it. What about the noise from the props the engineer likes that? Bill
Thanks Bill for your answer. In fact I'll use the gimbal with my hands (like the Mövi M10) so I don't have a problem with the props!
