Looking good Solon! Can't wait to see a final release version review. Hope we can also get it as a kit for upgrading existing Cinestar gimbals.
Just to keep you updated on our progress: We switched over to metal clamps, the plastic clamps made the gimbal to 'flexible'. The gimbal is now 80% custom made - only some parts of the 'third axis' remain unchanged. An even this is likely to change. In a few days we'll start our first tests with a Red - if they are successfull I'll post a video.
While waiting on the measurements for the direct drive motors. Had some time left and upgraded the role cage clamp. The added weight is about 150grams so today had to re-balance the head. Thijm
Thiijm If it's not too much trouble, would you be kind enough to change your user name to your real first name and last name, please? The reasons for this (and how to do do it) are explained here: http://forum.freeflysystems.com/index.php?threads/real-names.497/

Sehr nett Having zero as default makes it very userfriendly and easy to find your way back when testing new configurations! Maybe you show Holger this ;-) Best Regards. /Janne
I'm pleasant surprised how well the new bracket works. Almost stable image. Btw this new cam does not fit my current CS mount.
Looks and feels very nice. but will never fit current gimbal design. same problem with fs700. Very expensive compared to the Red epic. Also tested the Blackmagic Cam. Biggest issue is the micro4/3 sensor.
To also upgrade the Center pan plate. I disassembled the bracket and noticed that the bearings holding the main shaft do not have an flange. So in odd situations it is possible to loose the complete head!!! Luckily you can simply ad some washers, nut & bolt. When finished i will post some images. Thijm
Prototype no. 3 is finished. Flight tests will start in two weeks when our new XXl octo is RTF. Frame parts will be milled on Monday.
Maybe one month. Unfortunately we are also busy with some building 'stuff' for Mr. Clooneys "The Monuments Men".
Hi Thijm, First off if you could change to your real name that would be great, thank you! Secondly, No it is not possible for to "loose the complete head" the clamps in the pan axis lock the bearings into place and make this impossible. Tabb
