Hey All, It's in the title. Anything I should foresee? I have ignite offsets and TB50 plates. The ignite digi universal bottom plate should mount fine but I'll need to use Freefly top plate. Weights to counter the Cooke's. Powering via this D-Tap to 4 Pin. Think I'm missing anything? TIA, G
Hey Gage, Are you running the Venice with or without the R7 RAW recorder? Can you list the accessories you'll be running? FIZ Monitor HD transmitter Cheers, Tom
Honestly I’m a bigger fan of Freefly over DJI for software design reasons, but the R2 is a much better tool for what you’re doing. You’ll need to add so much counterweight that the weight difference between the two gimbals is negligible and the R2 design is far superior for a camera of that size and weight. If you look at Ignite Digis new accessory post about working with the Varicam LT you can see that they need to build it in a very specific manner to be successful. It really makes accomplishing your goals on set that much harder with no added benefit...
Alright, so the job came and went well. Had to counterbalance the hell out of it but things were fine and everyone was happy. Used the AXS-R7 recorder, Arri clip on matte box, teradek transmitter, and focus control with a nucleus M. One note on prep for this: The p-tap power cable had to be shipped from Tilta. I’m in NYC and Neither BH or Adorama had it in stock (maybe Abel, didn’t check) so leave enough time for that.
Thanks for following up. Do you have more photos you can post? That's an impressive payload, especially with the size of that camera. Was it a standard D-Tap to 4-pin XLR-right-angle power cable you had to order? I find a lot of 17" monitors have this cable to power DC from a gold mount battery plate that's often on the back.
Did you ever try finding the CG of the camera and lens before mounting the baseplate. This can make the difference for adding or not adding counterweights. Also, I was going to suggest using the Cinemilled Pan AKS mount. Glad everything worked out
