Well I made the plunge and ordered my C8 two days ago from Quadrocopter. Im incredibly excited about getting it sent to me and embarking on this DIY project! I imagine I will have numerous pauses along the way where I wil lean on this forum for help. Ive been following lots of threads here which will help me when I get to assemble, program, fly, and use this platform Ive been evaluating for almost a year now. Thanks in ADVANCE for al lthe help I plan to seek! DeanR
You will be a member of The Church of AJL before you're done. Andy's DVD Is terrific, and will guide you through the process. Keep this forum bookmarked, and search the hell out of it. It's all here.
Thanks Steve, I absolutely cant wait!! I know Ill have plenty of road bumps along the way but thats going to be part of the fun. This is one of the most focused forums I have ever joined in terms of content and behavior of its members and I am really happy to be here. ~DeanR
Congrats!! It took me a few months before I took the leap of faith. I bought Andy's video ahead of time which gave me the confidence that I could do this. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
Thanks, Steve. The plain brown envelope is on it's way to you. Don't spend it all in one place -- it will arouse suspicion. Andy.
Dean: I agree with you regarding the level of focus and professionalism -- the members of this forum are a unique group in terms of being able to use the web exactly the way that Tim Berners-Lee envisioned it. Andy.
Is there an appropriate place to post something for sale? Since my C8 package is going to include the Graupner MX20, I now have a brand new Spektrum DX8 in the box for a few months now... Ive never used it and Id rather sell it to someone here for a decent price rather than deal with Ebay or Amazon....
Dean: I don't believe there's any prohibition on posting a item for sale on this forum -- especially if it's copter-related. I'll ask Tabb if he feels we need a separate forum for that, but I suspect "Electronics" would do pro tem. Do I get my usual 10% commission? <evil grin> Andy
I hope you ordered the gun along with the kit because I guarantee that at some point before you blow your brains out you'll ask yourself wtf was I thinking!!! hahah
And now you know why I did the "Building" DVD.... 1. Got kit. 2. Looked for documentation to tell me how to build, test, learn to fly. 3. Looked for documentation. 4. Did I mention I looked for the documentation? 5. Found the alleged "documentation" on-line. 6. Resumed search for documentation. 7. Thought to myself: What I'm looking for is not there to be found.... 8. Had a glass of wine. OK. Two. OK. Several. 9. Turned our conference room into video studio. My colleagues now call it Conference Room 51 as they think it's an annex to Area 51. 10. And the rest is both history and hysteria. As the saying goes, "Necessity is a real mutha...." Andy.
Let me consult Grrrzath. He's one of our resident aliens....the immigration boys so hate that they chose that term.... Andy.
I did my pre-video!!!!!!!!! Wish I had that baby when I started, it woud have made my life a hell of a lot easier.
