Hello We are on Movi test with an fs5 and a zoom lens for an upcoming shooting. The Movi Pro came back yesterday from repair and it is updated. We have an issue with the control of redrock rock motors. Only Iris working, focus and zoom are both "faulted". We switched motors and cables and still have an issue. It seems that one cable works more often but nothing is clear. Do you guys have an idea of the problem ? Tanks Lucas
After more testing it seems that one redrock motor is faulty because all the cable and wedge output works one motor but not one the other...
Lucas, there are various discussions about problems with Iris and Zoom. This should be fixed with the upcoming firmware release, the Chrosziel CDM-100M worked with the old firmware already nicely.
Beta firmware 1.3 is released for testing. Check it out! http://freeflysystems.com/support/movi-pro-support/beta
I have had success with RedRock motors by doing the following. First thing when booting up MoviPro and Movi Controller, I load factory defaults on the fix axis config page for any motors I'm using, which is typically focus and iris. As long as I do this, and the motors are positioned on the sides of the lens barrel, and not wedged up against, (which I've experienced causes binding and faults) I've had pretty much flawless performance. It's irritating that I have to go through this process every time I boot up the gimbal, but I'm getting by for the moment. Does anyone at freefly have an explanation for why these settings aren't saved in memory when the units are power cycled?
Like Bryan suggested above, have you tried the new Beta firmware release for the Movi Pro and Mimic? I thought it addressed some of these issues.
I will test out the beta today. I'm just sharing with others how we've worked around these issues in previous builds, if they aren't comfortable shooting a commercial job on beta firmware.
we appreciate the work-around! I believe Bryan said 1.2 should have fixed it though, good luck let us know how it goes. Not working on our Pro this week, or id mess around.
Did anyone had any luck to make the motor work on the Wedge? I've had the issue with two different Movi Pro.
TSU related release notes below. Basically v1.2 includes extra safety measures for Redrock motors and v1.3 Beta includes improvements for calibration. With v1.3 you shouldn't need to load any defaults as a work around. v1.2 includes Bugfix: Fixes and improvements to an issue reported by customers using Redrock Torque Motors. Added a time based fault that protects in all motion states. It also modifies the over-current limit of the Redrock Torque Motors to be lower than the previous setting. Bugfix: FIZ settings wouldn’t save properly in earlier versions of the TSU firmware. v1.3 also includes New Feature: Support for Hocus Reflex Motor. Improvement: Minor changes to FIZ calibration to help with edge cases. Improvement: FIZ Range limits are now persistent. Bugfix: Positions were getting reset after manual calibration, which would invalidate the calibration.

Hello, some of you tried the new beta? I've installed it and it didn't change anything on my end so I'm curious to know what result other people are getting?
Hello guys, Here's a new issue with my TSU, motors and motor cables: 2 Freefly FIZ cables don't calibrate 2 different motors (RedRock Torque & Hocus HPM1) from the MIMIC PRO. -Both Freefly FIZ cables worked on another MOVI PRO -Both motors work when separately connected to Axis1 Tried: Updated firmware on Movi & MIMIC Pro (as shown) Rebooted MPro & MIMIC multiple times What am I missing? Support email sent
Have you tried using the Beta firmware? I thought it fixed some issues related to the FIZ. Here are the release notes: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wCmwA43pr8ienBFm46D-PwgX9HFo0surBgx3MBcIKlo/edit
Great video. All reproduction steps included and clear. Any idea on version numbers of the other Pro that worked with these cables and motors? Did you ever had FIZ working on this Pro?
I have the same setup. Movi Pro with Redrock Torque motors. After working rock solid over the past 3 months of ownership, the motor failed on me today. I'm gonna try to dig in a bit better tomorrow, but I have the same exact problem. It's starting to make me think this internal FIZ isn't completely dependable. I may have to just move on to another follow focus system.
