Yeah. The red LEDs are easily visible in bright sunlight from 100 yards away. The white LEDs are visible, but not quite as much as the red ones are. Andy.
I ordered a set of these from Hobby King. I hope they work. They'll take a bit of fiddling, but I really like that they have a little shock absorption. Heaven knows I need all the help I can get. They look neat. I can see the copter easing itself down on to them as you land (or, in my case, center-punch the oleo's upwards when I land). That leg diameter at 8mm is quite large.... Andy.
I was at a great hobby shop in Tucson, Arizona this week and found these wheels. They come in packs of two, unfortunately, but of course, we should all have a spare tire at all times, right? I've done a few flights with them and they seem to do the trick, plus, I get an extra 1/2" or so of ground clearance in the bargain. The best thing about them is that they are pre-drilled for a 3mm screw, and I stuck a 30mm screw in and it worked great. It sticks out 5-6mm on the other side, but that's ok...I didn't thing it'd be a good idea to cut it too close, in case it worked its way loose in flight.
Steve the sponge ones don't need to have air added all of the time. And i have a swing out spare tire carrier on the back of one of the landing gear... Happy New Year

How do you run the lights? Straight from the PDB or the boom lights from FC and clusters from PDB? Correct me if I'm wrong but you can't run all those lights from the FC! Greetings from your neighbor in Sweden

I didn't realize that the wheels came in packages of 4 I thought they were individual. If anyone wants a set of 3 let me know and I can send them out at no charge all I ask is that you pay the shipping.
I use 2 of the low bounce foam wheels. I didn't want to drill out the rivets on the landing gear just in case I wanted to remove the wheels at some point. I tried one wheel on one side of the gear but it tweaked the gear to one side...so I added two. Larger footprint on soft ground, sand, snow...
Hej, led's are powered via one of the FC's 12V outputs with one tiny BEC in the line. 12V down to 6V if I remember it right. No problems at all and it only takes approx 30sec out of the flight time when the led's are on.
Run them using the PCB Extension Set. Takes a bit of work to put the bits together since it is unassembled and small parts (don't drop them into the carpet) that need to be soldered. Once setup you get the benefit of having one of the light sets flash when you hit the low voltage setting.
I wired up a one-to-three way harness so all the LEDs flash just in case Jeff's Girlfriend (in the MX20) doesn't speak the voltage. Andy.

Never found one of the little LED indicator lights but DigiKey had them for pennies. Still have 9 left if anyone ever does the same thing. Do a google search on SMD soldering before you start. You'll find some good tips.
So I have begun to notice that the foam wheels start to flatten out as the overall weight gets higher. With a Nikon D800 on a 2 axis, single 9000mah battery they tend to deform. Need to start looking for something a bit stouter. I really have them for the additional bit more height (2 of my gear legs are V1's which can't take the landing gear extensions) and protect the ends of the gear legs.
Yeah....I agree with you Gary. Under increasing load, I don't think they're up to the job. Not that they fail, just that they develop a "flat" on the underside. Andy.
