But please be sure to register your sailboat with the DMV. :)

I am not too concerned with myself. It's more so the legalities of the maker space registering it for their use. Since they will be the "Owner" after I donate the thing. I want to make sure they don't get shwaked for having a drone registered to a business even though it is a non-profit.

I think you are correct though, that it won't be an issue. Especially since there is an illegal for profit drone school here not flying under 333 or even with a certified pilot. They just got a cease and desist from the FSDO after flying a commercial shoot in downtown Albuquerque with no traffic controls or any of the other required process.

What if it is a drone sail boat that we let float down the river?:p

This is America. You gotta register it with someone. Probably the Federal River Authority. Or the Ministry of Funny Walks and sUB (small unmanned boats).

I think the fact that it is a non-profit will be irrelevant to the FAA, unfortunately. If they're the owner and they're a corporation (which they are), then I don't think it's possible for a corporation to fly as a hobbyist -- it's an internal contradiction. Again, I could be wrong, but....

Agreed, now you see the conundrum.

Nah. No conundrum. You're merely out of luck, I'm guessing.

It is what it is I guess. We'll see what the integration office says.

I'm on holiday in Mexico, so I had a little downtime and decided to log in and register a couple of my birds. FAA says "no". Sigh. image.jpeg

Which URL did you use? The only sites that I can see for sUA registration are "scam" sites wanting $25 for registering your aircraft for you. e.g. http://www.federaldroneregistration.com/

if you scroll to the bottom of the page you'll see:
Federal Drone Registration is a premier service provider of professional document preparation services providing a simplified process to help our clients obtain a drone registration with the U.S. Government. We work for our clients to help make the entire process quick, easy, secure, and worry free. We act on behalf of you (our client), and are not affiliated with any US government agency or the FAA. We are an independent site that was designed to obtain a registration number for you and assist with post-registration questions. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact us anytime.

For which read, we ain't the FAA but we're doing everything we can to make you think that we are.

Initially I heard that Drone registration would be free for the first few weeks. I just completed my registration and it appears as if they are charging $24.99 for each registration... any idea what is going on?

You got cheated, I'm afraid, Cesar. The FAA site does not appear to be up and running.
Specifically what web page did you go to?

    Andy

EDIT: I am pretty sure this will be the web page that will have a link on the graphic image to take you to the web registration site for the FAA: https://www.faa.gov/uas/registration/

See my message #32 in this thread. It's the scam site.

Be careful there are a bunch of SCAM sites out there claiming they are a certified registry for the FAA. I have gotten a couple spam messages in my linkedin.

All official federal government sites will use .GOV not .COM.

5 Bucks, pretty straight forward. You don't actually declare a specific aircraft.

Here's what it looks like. It only takes about 2 minutes to do.

I thought your aircraft was owned by a corporation, Shaun?
