Hi, Getting my movi next week which will be installed under S1000 using Kopterworx mount. I seen the M5 battery are 4S LIPO. In order to save the Lipo weight, can i use 24V to 12V voltage converter and power the movi using 12V input ? This way, i need to use only my LiPo for multicopter to power all equipments.
I wouldn't bother as this will stop you being able to fully pan the Movi. The Movi 5's battery is pretty lightweight anyway and would only shorten a flight by a few seconds. With that said what you are suggesting could be done although you dont want to drop to 12v, more like 15-16v
I can do that too. The MōVI cannot operate correctly on 12 volts. A 4S Lipo, at maximum voltage it is ~16.8 volts and the minimum useful voltage is ~14.0 volts. You'll find that that at 12 volts, the MōVI is pretty useless. On the other hand, if you could provide, say, 15 volt power that should work. Andy
Thing #1: The MōVI M5 runs on 4S (16V) not 3S (12V). Thing #2: It's very complicated to get power down from a copter to a MōVI in a way that allows 360° movement. It can be done using a slip ring or other such silliness, but again, "why"? Thing #3: The M5 batteries weigh very little. Trying to eliminate them is false economy.
