Yep they look pretty nice, also checked out Hyundai iLoads, Mercedes Vito and Renault Trafic. Should start a Van / fit out thread, be really interested in what people are running

Wow! Holy smokes! 120 amps at hover? Your flight times are going to be in the toilet. With Tiger 4120 motors at 12K I am hovering around 88 amps. Hover is 60% with flat 8 with Tiger 16's. I can get 15 to 15.5 minutes at 12K.

What weights are you guys running? At 22-23lbs AUW my X8 hovers at about 62 amps.

Yes, 5215XF-435KV motors are not efficient. They are (just) very powerful.

My Herk based rig is going to be for an experiment/idea another pilot and I have in mind. Probably going to run the 5215 435's

I am building a rig similar to what Dave flies, ~30lbs AWU dual FC etc.

    Got all my motors yesterday.

SO far the 4014's and the 4120's both rock. I have one dud tiger though=/ the 5215 330 KV is off to Germany.

Yep this wasn't built for efficiency, it was built to lift heavy things

    Howard,

I want to get a confirm back from Germany that they are safe on the BL3.0. So Far on my test jig they are on 18's but I don't have any 20+ props in my kit. I want to try to stay on the Dual FC system to mitigate loss potential.

That being said My Herk ESC's come in Friday and your idea has me thinking 330's with 20/22"s would be a pretty good combo. Gonna order a pair of each up and test em out next week. I would hazard around 2400-2700~ grams per motor on 22x7" props and no more then 12a.

Great! Keep us posted...I really do hope to see good results with the 330kv on a larger prop!

Planning on doing some 8s testing too with a KDE 75a ESC as well just for curiosity.

Howard I get a feeling that the 330's will do very well on 6s with a large prop on the MK or Herk electronics due to the built in breaking the ESC's provide. I think my estimates are conservative but only time will tell. Got some 20's and 22s coming and a friend has a 24x8 Xoar he is letting me use.

    Hi,
Here is a short footage of my brand new Herk setup with 18" Mejzlik props and 5215 435 kv. I still have some vibration issues to fix. I'm used to the black rings on my flat 8 - but even with the blue ones I'm seeing some nasty micro vibrations sneaking in to the camera... Maybe I'll try the 18" Xoar props... What kind of props do you swing?

Bo, what is the AUW of your rig in the video? Flight time and battery capacity?

About 10 - 11 kg. My final AUW will be 14-15 kg. I get about 8 min. with 2X9000.

    Thanks

I didn't order the Xoars. The micro vibrations turned out be generated, mostly from the Prop wash. So I ended up with a boom extension to 500. That helped a lot, but I still struggling with some weird camera problems I'm not seeing on my flat 8. I think that 550 would be better, but then it wont fit in my car anymore  I guess some PID tuning will help a little. I'm used to the black rings on the flat 8, no way I can use them on the X8. Currently 8 blue vibe dampers do the job. (48 rings)
Maybe there is to much flex in the Cinestar hub...?

Howard: If you are looking for a decent place to order Xoar props, here is where I have ordered my last couple sets:

    http://www.justmodelprops.com

They stock quite a variety of different lengths and pitches - and can custom drill the holes to match your shaft size so you don't have to use inserts or change adapters on your motors.

Thanks Michael. I buy from them as well, I contacted them last week but they don't carry the larger diameter (20"+) matched pairs. They could order but since the Chinese are just returning from their holiday it may take up to a month before I have them.
