The reason I didn't leave the message here or claimed to find the solution is because I "THINK" it worked by changing the Pan Window. Not 100% sure. Since our MoVI was not on a straight table, in majectic mode it might have been trying to following the angle at which the MoVI was sitting. By bringing the window down, the drifting stopped.
The issue went away BUT when it used to happen, it would carry on past the angle set in the Pan Window setting. Need more time before I can say for sure that was the solution.

    Thanks.

Hi Veve, can u do this test ? turn you tilt speed max and see if the tilt moves in majestic mod.
In full remote mode turn your pan speed to max and see if it pans the rig. you need to watch closely cause the it does it quite slowly.

    Hi Charles,

Tilt speed max = No movement from tilt in majestic or in remote
Pan speed max = No movement from pan in majestic or remote

I actually never had an issue with the tilt drifting. Only the pan. And for some magical reason it has now stopped! Weird...

But yeah seems like playing with the pan window did the trick! When putting it back to a value of 5-10, this pan drifting doesn't seem to show up anymore... Gonna wait a little before claiming victory!

Veve when you see this happening (either tilt or pan) is the MoVI simply sitting idle in the stand? Or is it happening while you are using the MoVI and filming?

    Hi Gary!

It's happening when the MoVI is idle. It's not strong enough to be noticed when holding the movi and moving with it. We have 2x M5 and 2x M10. It only happens on that one M10. It also never gets GPS lock (whether we're inside or outside clear skies) if that has anything to do with it?

    Thanks

Veve if I remember my meetings up at Freefly I think the drift is normal. While the sensors are very sensitive they also are not absolute and there is drift. Worst is when the MoVi is hanging on the stand. Leave it there long enough and you may see drift.

I'll try and check with the folks at FF but my guess is that what you and others are seeing while the unit is in the stand, especially if you are not running the MoVI controller or other Tx/Rx, is normal. If you have a remote then if the controller is off then you may get the same results. Not sure that it would be different even if the controller is on and it is sitting in the stand.

Thank you for this Gary. Yes please if you could just double check for me with the guys at FF, that would be great.

Also, any idea why it will not have GPS Lock on?

Veve I just confirmed that the MoVI may drift while sitting in the stand. As soon as it is picked up the drift will go away. Perfectly normal. Something that can contribute to it while idle in the stand is if the stand is not level. That may 'aggravate' it happening.

So totally normal and nothing to worry about as long as the MoVI is working properly while be handled.

As a test, If you close the pan window down and it pans past that window, then there may be an issue. As said, if the stand is at a slight slant and the balance isn't PERFECT, I would expect it to drift to the edge of the pan window.

I would assume that the trims are not set perfectly.

Some of the big gyro stabilized remote heads use stellar tracking for positioning.
If you left them turned on, after a while you will see that they are pointing in a different direction...on earth. They are still pointing to the same point in space, just the earth has moved.
Does the Movi use stellar tracking or compass direction?
