Hey Guys, We at Redrock are keenly aware that the microRemote is an incredibly popular choice for MoVi users - from Shane Hurlbut to the Freefly Crew themselves. Being lightweight, affordable, and feature rich, it’s the natural choice! The microRemote with LiPo batteries are a great combination, a lightweight power source for a lightweight system. But we wanted to make current and future microRemote users aware of a few things we’ve seen pop up when powering the system using LiPo batteries, so please check out our blog post here. Reading this three minute article can save you from a pretty large headache! http://redrockmicro.blogspot.com/2014/06/dont-let-power-problems-sabotage-your.html As always, here to answer any questions that may arise!
Thanks Loren! Our MoVI + microRemote has worked perfectly using a single MoVI battery and splitting out to the microRemote. Also by monitoring the charge in the MoVI we can easily read out the Lipo remaining charge and make sure they don't drain out.
can you show me what cables you are using to do this, can you take some good pics of this. thanks and where did you get the cables?
Jim, I don't have the rig handy but here's the cables we're using: From the MoVI LiPo we split out with a JST Female to 2 JST Male: http://www.hobbypartz.com/79p-10018.html From there you will need a Freefly Battery to 2 Pin Lemo to connect to the RedRock FF basestation: http://store.freeflysystems.com/collections/movi-accessory/products/freefly-battery-to-2-pin-lemo It's a very simple setup but let me know if you have any questions.
HI Adolfo, thanks for this post and the links, it's a big help. Just to double check ; ), by using the splitter my M5 will still be able to monitor the battery remaining charge yes?
Hi Christopher, You can still monitor the battery through the 3 LED lights on your MoVI. We tend to switch out the battery once we see a single LED on the MoVI.
