I recently received two 16000 mAh and two 10000 mAh Tattu flight batteries, and am doing some initial testing. More flight data this morning. Flew the two 10000 mAh Tattu batteries, and got terrific flight performance. 14.5 minutes flight time, with some energetic climbs to...err...exactly 400’ (cough). Did a fun little “#dronie” today in dPH to test how accurate the hold is whilst ascending. The results are interesting. Check out the 2nd video below for the MK’s GPX trace loaded into Google Earth.
While the GPS trace shows you going straight up the video shows that it is drifting south. Watching you in the video and assuming you were pointing straight down then you slowly climb up from the bottom towards the top third of the farme. In reality the GPS is only showing the accuracy as the MK stack thinks it is seeing. So it says straight up. The inherent inaccuracy of civilian copter grade electronics. Still very impressive. What amount of wind did you have?
Wind was just a few mph, variable as it hit the cliffs, too, so there was a tiny bit of turbulence, but effectively nil.

I Steve. Thanks for sharing the trials and tabulations of your new build. Very helpful. May I ask why you went with the M5 when you had such a great FF 3 Axis converted brushless gimbal? Thanks. Edit: You know what, never mind. I think I already know the answer. When I saw those first few M5 flights I was really disappointed in the quality but then kept reading (now all 18 pages!) and see you nailed down the gains and it is performing very well. Great job.
The amount of time required to tune the other gimbal was just too much to deal with. So I decided to invest in the MōVI because my time was more valuable.
Hey steve what other camera/lens combo are you flying other than the gh3/4? How many lenses are you flying other than the 12-35?
As for the GH3/4, the Panasonic 12-35 is the only M4/3 lens I own. I’ve been toying with getting something else, but the 12-35 is an excellent performer, so I’ve not been very motivated. But I’ve flown my 5D Mark III with the 24/2.8 IS and the 17-40. I also tried one flight with the Sony CX760V, but I’ve cooled off on that camera.
I rented one a while back, thinking it would be a great focal length (I love superwide lenses). But I was unimpressed. It was very soft, especially in comparison to my Canon ‘L’ glass (like the 17-40 I mentioned above).
We've used it several times and it was just the opposite for us...very sharp! We love that lens. Maybe you had a badly abused rental house version.
Maybe I’ll give it another go then. I am a big fan of superwides. On my Canon 5D Mark III bodies, my most used lens by far is my 16-35. The other thing I just remembered about it is the inability to put a filter on it. That was a deal-breaker. Not being able to use a ND or polarizer makes it all but useless for filming in daylight.
Steve I have the 7-14 on my GH3 and really like it the 7 is pretty wide the 2 little things about the is lens are the hood is fix to the lens can not remove you can't screw any filter to the front I fitted my lens with a gel filter holder in the back you can always buy from like B&H test and if you don't like it in a week return it intact for a full refund
