Hi friends. Is there any possibility of flying and filming, in a perfect straight line for 150-300 m without having any unwanted yaw movements from the Cinestar itself? (Standard C8 with MK stack, QC motors. Navi and GPS on boom 1.) I find this very hard to do. Is the one and only solution to have a 3 axis gimbal, Mövi or other brushless, and that way let the gimbal even out the copters unintended and unwanted small yaw movements?? Thanks Andy, and if Steve likes this I´ll have to give this road a bit more atension. But using both ph and ah does make the kopter sometimes vibrate to much, and setting the gyros for smother flight sometimes gives the old toilet bowling back... I have ordered the new ext compas and is hoping with al set I´ll get the Stability of Steves kopter

Thanks Steve. Are you to thinking of placing the ext compas above the GPS? How high above the GPS? In Holgers pic it looks very fragile, not quite like the DJI setup ... /Janne
That’s part of why I’ve not installed it. Can’t quite make up my mind as to where it should go. Leaning towards putting it high up like Holger did, but I’m concerned about it being exposed, as well as it not being as stable. But presumably the goal is to isolate it from all the LiPo wiring and other stuff, so that seems to be the ideal spot.
Second your thinking Steve. Im also thinking it only sits on one screw so it is quite easy to mount and unmount while traveling. But it would be nice if Holger came up with some more rigid and better protected mounting thingi like the one DJI uses for its GPS-compas.

I don't use MK, but with Hoverfly I would use auto level and adjust the trim for forward flight at the desired speed then all you have to do is rudder until you're going in the correct direction then take your hands off the sticks. Definitely possible in calm air.
A completely straight forward flying shot is probably one of the hardest shots to do I think, any air movement will move the copter, which will be visible in the shot. Using a wider lens can alleviate some of this, but a tighter lens flying a straight line forward is challenging unless the conditions are perfect.
I find that if I enable position hold and then "fly" the set point for the position hold, the Flight Control Board does a pretty good job of compensating for the wind. If I have AH on as well, I try not to touch the left stick to avoid inducing any yawing. Andy.
I'm going to try an experiment with waypoints and see if that might produce the desired effect. Looking for something to address some surveying needs, but it could work with video tracking, too.
I've learnt the only difference being in this hemisphere is that every iPhone photo is upside down on the FF forums, other than that the physics appears appears to be that same for all of us
