Saw this at NAB. Disappointed that the old pink bunny shower cap might need to be retired. http://www.quadrocopter.com/CineStar-8-Clear-Canopy_p_1262.html
Saw that last week. I would try it but I have my nav/gps boards on top of my flight control board and the cap wouldn't be high enough.
It looks great! Unfortunately, like Dave, I can’t use it. I just wish I had 24 hours with somebody’s Makerbot...I know exactly what I want/need, and I’ve already got it designed in Blender. I just need to revisit with somebody who knows 3D printing. Any SF Bay Area peeps who might be able to help out?
This is something which we should have had long time ago! Some painting skills will turn the Cinestar into rockin' superstar.
Hey how does this go with raising the heat of the pcb? I tried different things and all it did was yeah it was great for sun, dirt etc protection but I did see a considerable raise in my temps! when flying.
That is definitely going to be a problem, especially in warm climates. Some folks have put fans on their PDBs. But you have to be careful with that with power consumption and possibly even radio interference. However, I’m running the new Double MK board at 6S with the integrated cooling plates, and it’s a wonder. Barely above ambient temperature even under pretty heavy loads.
I just ordered one to try. I also have the Double Quadro/6s setup. I'll post some results after I get it going. Beats the shower cap, but I'll miss the little yellow ducks on it.
As for me, that would defeat the purpose of it being a moisture barrier. I’m looking for a solution that... hides some of the wiring so it looks more tidy protects against some degree of moisture and other unwanted things provides some degree of protection in a roll over I can’t use this one, anyway, because I have a completely different center hub config.
Mike, I think you will be the one who will sacrifice to experiment if it heats up or not I will paint to white as soon as it arrives. I have done it before to CX4 canopy from Droidworx, it worked good on a normal lift copter.
The color you choose may depend more on what you want the cap to do: 1. If you want it to absorb less heat from insolation, then paint it white or silver (to reflect more energy). 2. If you want it to radiate more internal heat from the BL-Ctrls, then paint it black. Ask "The One" : http://io9.com/5903956/the-physics-that-explain-why-you-should-wear-black-this-summer Or a naked scientist: http://www.thenakedscientists.com/HTML/questions/question/3136/ Andy.
I can always count on you Andy for interesting explanations. Maybe flat black on the inside and silver on the outside? -m
All depends on whether you're going to be flying in bright sunshine, Mike. That will determine whether there is more energy coming from the sun than is being emitted by the avionics.... I would also experiment with some ventilation slots to try and get some active cooling going on.. Makes you feel you cannot beat the Universe, doesn't it? (and you cannot -- so settle for break even). If it's sunny I would fly the copter naked, but if you're worried about precip or condensate on a cloudy day then go silver, but at all times try and make it look fashionably tasteful... Andy
Hi Jason. I've used this on the X8 with the Herk and tall MK stack in the center. Works OK, but I still don't fly in the rain because the Movi would take a hit underneath. -m
