I'm shooting a music video shoot tomorrow and I was wondering if anyone has attempted putting the 5DMKIII with the MKII 70-200IS on the rig.

    The combined weight
    5DMKIII - 1.90 lb (860g)
    70-200 - 3.28 lb (1.49 kg)

Puts it in at a total of 5.18Ib's

It's only a smidge over the weight limit for the m5, I was wondering if it'l handle it if I'm just doing some basic following/tracking/dolly movements. Nothing crazy. I feel like the types of shots I could get would be pretty unique.

    Anyone given it a shot?

I’d be really surprised if you could get it to balance, given the combined length of the camera and lens. To do it safely/properly, you’d probably have to mount it on the tripod collar on the lens, but I doubt you could do it without having the camera bang into the MōVI’s structure.

Not going to happen. It's not the weight, it's the length.. (Hmmmmm)

Get some prime lenses and you will be fine..

Agreed. I tried my 85/1.2 just for S&G and it balanced fine. Not sure what I’d use it for, though. Without a FF it’s all but useless.

Thanks, man. After months and months of fighting the Alexmos wars, my MōVI is a breath of fresh air.

    If it's not a MoVI it's a FoVI (faux)
