Shane and I put together our tuning recommendations for a variety of cameras here:

Check them out if you need a good starting point. Please note these are just ballpark figures to get you going and your final setup might differ. The most important points are that you get the stiffness setting as high as possible without any oscillation.

Noticed you mention recommending a BMPCC cage. Any cage you would recommend?

    Hi Jerry,

Let me look at them and see which looks most suitable. The reason i recommend the cage is the lens protrude beyond the edge of the BMPC (top and bottom of the camera) and make it impossible to mount our camera plates on top and bottom unless you flip them around which isnt ideal. I will try and post a few pics to explain.

Hey Tabb, I preordered my M5 on February 18, 2014. Should I expect to recieve my M5 within the 4-6 week time frame?

I also noticed you took out the second pan adjustment. It only moves forward and backward now. Are these cameras just light enought to not need that second adjustment?

Hi Sam, We constrained the pan knuckle from rotating to make the balancing easier. Lighter cameras helped but we also made the pan balance more symetrical on the M5 so you don't need to offset (rotate) the pan like you did on the M10.

does that go for the dual adjustments on the roll axis as well?
Is there a recommended way to mount a motor on the focus ring on a DSLR? they tuck that focus ring so close to body of the camera its almost impossible to get the motor on it from below. What have you guys done? Is there a way to mount it from above?

That’s great, Tabb. Do you generally use the same settings for aerial as for handheld?

Steve you will generally have different settings for either handheld (holding both handles), single hand holding the top handle and lastly when hooked to a copter. Different amount of damping from how it is being held. Lowest is usually single hand.

    Hi Tabb

You have the BM4K on (top of) your settings list. Does that mean that it all of a sudden is a viable option for the M5 again?

    Thanks

    Hello stabilized community,

Thanks for putting this data together Tabb and Shane.

Just unboxed my M5 today. I have read most, if not all of the forum leading up to today.

I was surprised the M5 did not include a manual beyond the 3 quick start guide sheets in the envelope. Does anyone have a link for the manual? Wanting to dial in settings, but do not know where to begin.

    Thanks for you help here,

    Mike

    Thanks! Hidden in plain sight.

Will get it dialed in. We shoot from a scooter, so will see how things move in the wind. Looking forward to this rig.

    Hey Tabb,

Were you able to determine which cage is the best fit for the BMPCC on the M5? Thanks!

The snapshot in the spreadsheet was from an engineering version of the GUI. Those fields are not currently available.
